The few slivers of light that pierced this deep began to fade little by little. Bastet stood in the center, soaking in the last few drops of daylight. Did she blend in here, her mottled coat of gray and black in a dark cave? Or did the light glancing off her draw attention? She hoped it was the later. What good would it be to not be observed? But observation would be hard in the darkness of this place. The Nightwalkers certainly seemed to live up to their name. Stealth and shadows and hidden little places. Even the medic den, as they called it, had hidden space for herbs and medicines. Scent would have to guide her when light failed to reach. How amusing. It was... adorable, honestly, the silly little name and the silly little cave and the way it all flowed together. She and Akhet would do well here. He'd have to squeeze a little in the cave entrance, but she doubted that would bother him much. Or at least hoped it wouldn't. This had been her decision after all, not his. He hadn't been as eager to live here, to abandon her dreams of glory and rebuilding her home. Home, how foreign a concept it had become. A glistening dream like morning dew, evaporating in the harsh light of life. Bastet knew her chance of ruling was gone, no matter how much she wished it wasn't. How had her brothers so easily tried to shake the joy of leadership? She sighed, trying to push aside thoughts of the past and focus on the present. The sound of footsteps reached her ears, cats returning from their day of work. Bastet glanced over her shoulder, searching for the source. A spark of brown and white caught her eye, what a familiar pattern they held. But the cat whose coat matched in her memory was long gone, wasn't he? Hadn't Horus run off elsewhere searching for adventure? Certainly he was far away, not here. And yet that coat looked so familiar. Bastet stared, green eyes fixed on this potential stranger, awaiting some reaction.

#s://i~imgur~com/hOHnyES~png A new beginning, a new purpose. That's why he loved this place.
Clan life never really appealed him, mostly due to his past with the cabin sect. It would probably be hard for him to join a clan after the sins he committed. But here? They were forgiven, thankfully by Laurelfern, though he never explicitly told her about his past. But, she didn't look at him no different than anyone else. However, his heart caused him to desire the sanctity of the Nightwalkers camp. Secluded and inside a cave, just like his home as a kit.
Horus' form slithered through the entrance as he came in for the night. Usually, like most of the sanction, did their work at night. However, some brush needed to be brought to the entrance to make it more secure, and grabbing the right and healthiest vegetation took the sunlight to see. It hurt his eyes while walking outside... does this mean that he is finally able to call himself a Nightwalker?
The brown tom trotted into the camp, his eyes adjusting to the light. He saw a few cats scattered around, nodding to them. Once his eyes were normal, he could go back and make meaningful conversation with this colleagues. But, as he approached the center, an unfamiliar form was in front of him. Dark and agile. He hesitated continuing, as he blinked his eyes to see. Horus moved to walk around when...
"B-Bastet?"
His eyes focused on his sister's form, unharmed and alive. It was a miracle, and he knew he was dreaming. She was real. She was alive. All this time.
"Bastet! How did you-" he cut himself off as he wrapped his head around her shoulders. The scent of their home, their family, it wasn't there. But, in his mind, it could still. The tom gasped in disbelief as he breathed heavy.
"How did you get here? Did Ra or Anubis come with you? Where's Mother? What happened to our home?" He felt sinful for saying home, as it was what he had abandoned. It felt wrong, and the distaste and disappointment of himself could be felt on his tongue. He didn't care now. One of his missing pieces was right in front of him.

The long lost first son, born and bred to rule, who'd abandoned it all. And now they were reunited here where their blood meant they were only siblings, not future rulers. While his survival wasn't a surprise to her, his presence here was. What were the odds? Maybe some would call it fate, but she couldn't believe it after what happened. It had been clear her fate would have been to rule, had such a thing existed, and yet here she stood. " Horus." Her voice and expression were far more calm than his. It didn't surprise her to see him alive, not when he'd left before the bloodbath claimed her home. Horus wrapped his head around her, clearly overwhelmed by it all. Was it that surprising? It wasn't like he knew what had happened to their home, had he? When he asked about their kin Bastet believed he must not know. If he did, surely he would've known that their family was long since lost. Or rather, her home. He'd abandoned it, hadn't he? And yet she couldn't dislike him for it, not when it had started her ultimately doomed path to leadership. " Akhet is with me, do you remember him? He's... a loyal follower of mine." Best to lay out what little good news there was, at least two of them had survived. But she doubted Horus much remember her friend, follower, whatever he was. The rest would be far more difficult to explain. " Perhaps we should move this discussion somewhere a little more private, hmm? I'm to be a medic here, I'm sure no one will mind if we commandeer it for a short while."
