appearance
A small orange and white tabby cat with soft amber eyes.
Splashes of warm orange tabby break through his largely white coat. Kind amber eyes are framed by tabby stripes and a white muzzle. Often seen with a relaxed or kind expression upon his face. Combined with his smaller size, few cats could ever see him as a threat.

description
There were happy moments. Time wore at the edges of his memory, but Koda clings to those brief moons before his world fell apart. His tribe traveled across the land to and from various ancestral homes. Land they had tended for generations.
All he had left was the faint memory of family. Of warmth. Of familiarity. Stories told by blurry figures, familiar scents and shapes of those around him. Grassy hills and towering trees and peaceful lake shores. And the names of those who stood beside him. Naydra and Farosh. Mother and father. Yoko, his sister. His littermate. Kurama, his elder brother.
Most other names and faces had been torn away by time.
He had only spent maybe five moons with them. And only a handful of those had been peaceful. Other cats had settled the land they'd watched. New paths were found. But the tribe never got a chance to fully carve out their new land.
The attack was a blur. Slivers of moonlight illuminated the bodies of those who hadn't seen their attackers coming. His mother yelled for them to run. He obeyed, certain Yoko and Kurama had obeyed her plea.
Cats clawed at him, he felt the pressure of paws but no pain. He kept running.
He didn't glance back, even when he realized the only set of paws he heard were his own. They're just behind me. Just a little out of earshot.
Koda ran until he felt the warmth of the morning sun on his pelt. He turned to see his family, to wait for them to catch up. All he saw were a few droplets of blood. Pain finally set in. As did grief.
But he waited, still and silent for the others to catch up. Surely they'd see the trail of blood.
The moon rose and set before the truth fully set in. Koda was alone.
He tried to follow the trail back to his family. But not long after starting he collapsed. Hungry and thirsty and hurting, Koda wondered if it was the end.
As he drifted off a wet nose pressed against his side. He caught a glance of two strange creatures before he saw nothing at all.
When Koda awoke he was in a strange place. Smooth, straight, and slippery walls boxed him into a small space. Something was wrapped tightly around body and wounds. The scent of fear in the air. More of those strange creatures were around. The tall ones who walked on hind legs, and the ones that looked vaguely like wolves or foxes. And other cats.
Eventually he learned the words 'cage' and 'twoleg' and 'dog'. One of the odd twolegged ones brought him to what was called a 'house'. They cooed in their weird voices and changed the 'bandages' on his side.
There was another cat there. And a dog. Neither wanted to give Koda any space.
The other cat was called Milo. A large and happy tom, he listened to Koda and explained how everything would work.
"They'll find ya a good home." Milo said as he laid out in the sun. "Once you're healed up."
Milo explained the perks of being a house cat. When Koda tried to explain that he had a home, had a family and food, Milo simply scoffed. "They're probably gone kid. You might be it. Life out there is cruel. Accept it and move on. It's time for a new life."
Koda pondered on his new companions words. What if he was the only one left? Was that it? His tribe was gone? Scattered and broken? Who would carry on their traditions? Who would care for their lands?
There was only one choice. Koda waited till he was healed. Till he could run. And he waited, for the twolegged one to open the door for just a few seconds too long.
They screeched as he ran. He felt their paws try and grab at his fur. But he was faster than their clumsy paws. And he was free.
Determined to make it home, he quickly left the maze of homes and roads and twolegs and entered the forest. The soft dirt and grass were a relief after the slippery and hard floors of a house.
For a few days he wandered, managing to catch a scare amount of prey. But he soon realized hunger wasn't his biggest concern. Thirst was. He drank from murky puddles and lapped up any moisture from his prey. By the time he saw a mighty river in front of him, Koda could barely stand.
It was his first lesson. Never stray from water without knowing of another source.
Koda traveled along the river, always keeping an eye out for other cats. Maybe some others survived. While he never found any, he never stopped searching.
Eventually he even learned to swim. He watched other cats and animals, how they moved and fished. If they left any prey behind he'd swoop in to finish what he could and bury the rest. And one day he finally caught a fish by himself.
As the seasons changed Koda grew into a proper adult. He learned to navigate using the river as a guide, and began to set up his own trails and lands.
There was a mountain lake with small caves near a crag. There was a meadow and there were forests and riverside rocks to sun in. And he found caves and old tunnels for shelter.
As he traveled, Koda tried his best to keep up the traditions of his tribe. Even if he was the only one, he could rebuild. He'd master this life, find a mate, and teach his children the way of his tribe.
Koda learned quickly that one cat could not eat larger prey without leftovers. Leftovers that quickly rotted and turned a stomach sour. So he learned to bury his meals under plants and herbs. When he'd return moons later, he'd realize the plants there grew far better.
He celebrated the changing of seasons in his own ways. His tribe would celebrate spring and mourn the losses of winter with ceremonies and speeches and words of remembrance. So he collected shed fur from his winter coat and set them out in piles with dried grasses as makeshift graves for those lost. And as birds collected the piles for their nests, he'd whisper the names of those lost and prepare for the seasons ahead.
As the moons drew colder he prepared for winter by celebrating the successful prior seasons. He'd mark on a cave wall with each passing winter, just a single scratch. A way for whoever came after to know that someone had been here. Someone had cared for the land. He got the idea from another loner, who mentioned a distant group did something similar.
Koda learned to ensure important plants had space and sunlight so they could grow strong. He prioritized giving leftovers to weaker plants. And from other cats he learned how to treat minor wounds with those plants.
Now Koda roams, setting up trails and trying to keep his tribe's traditions alive. He'll happily share any advice he's learned to other cats, and just as happily leave if any hint of trouble appears.
While he's a talented swimmer, fisher, and hunter, he's never learned to fight. He relies on his wits and speed to escape any sticky situations.
News of the Kingdom's formation lured Koda north, deviating from his expected route. With more and more land occupied by permanent settlers, and an uncomfortable meeting with his long long sister, Koda decides perhaps it is time to settle down.
With the group newly formed and spanning a large stretch of land, Koda hopes he'll be able to impart some of his family's traditions onto the Kingdom's way of life.
Additionally his friendly demeanor and wandering ways make the tom uniquely suited to fill the role of Liaison. He'll still be able to travel frequently, which to him is well worth the added reasonability the role brings. He intends to use this role to travel between the three camps frequently, favoring none over the others.

Pre-Plotting: Koda is Foxglove and Scratch's missing brother. He was adopted from Foxglove's wanted ad. He is largely unaware of the trouble between the clans and clanless. In the Kingdom plot adoptables, he falls somewhere between dragonfly and bumblebee, leaning most to the former. The clans have not wronged or helped him, but he wants peace and cooperation when at all possible.
Family: Koda believes most his family dead or scattered. He mourns them and wishes to continue their legacy. While he has met his sister, her new personality left him rattled.
Friends: Koda is quite happy to make friends with others and share advice.
Romance: Koda has never had a crush or romantic interest, but does want a companion and mate to share his life with.
Rivals: It would be hard to be rivals with Koda due to his non-confrontational attitude.
