Happy October, Whitewater! We are excited to finally be in the spookiest month of the year, especially since the weather is finally feeling like fall! We hope everyone is planning to have fun this upcoming Halloween, whether going out in costume or staying in with some pumpkin pie. 

This month will bring our next age-up. For all characters accepted before 10/1, please update their age by one moon. If you made a character and they were accepted after 10/1, it is up to you whether or not you age them up. The only exception to this are accepted characters that are tied to a previously accepted character…they will need to be aged up regardless of acceptance time to keep their timelines matching! If you aren’t sure if you need to update your character’s age, please reach out to staff and we will help.

Please be sure to also update ages in your wanted ads as well. Once everything is updated, please respond to this thread. This will also serve as our activity check. Please respond by 10/22. If you are unable to update your ages, please post an away in our Discord or message staff privately about your absence! Members who do not reach out or reply to this thread will have their characters archived. We would also like to ask that members who do not have a posted/accepted character also reply to this thread, just so we know whether or not you're interested in sticking around!

We would like to give a big welcome to our recent batch of new members! We are excited to see what plots and characters you bring to the world of Whitewater. Don't forget to post your introduction in the #introductions channel of our Discord! Also feel free to post your birthday in the #birthdays channel, if you want to share your special day with us!

We have also updated our Limits & Bans. RidgeClan cats are currently discouraged. Of the Clans, MistClan falls behind the most in regards to population. We also strongly encourage Kingdom cats and Clanless cats!

This month also brings the conclusion of our first Tales of the Valley event! We hope everyone enjoyed the opportunity to explore the past! We plan for this event to become a regular occurrence, so don't toss any unused past thread ideas! Our next Tales of the Valley event will occur early next year. 

Lastly, we want to wish an early happy birthday to our friend, Jae! We hope you have some time to relax on your special day. 

PLot updates

We have some exciting plot development going on!

In case you missed it, Laurelfern has announced her intentions to leave RidgeClan and found the Kingdom in our most recent gathering. Feel free to include your character's reaction, whether to internally ponder this development or outwardly add to the drama! 

This is an untraditional Gathering, and so we are not providing prompts for the Clan councils to share. Keep your secrets for a bit longer, leaders!

In response to the official formation of our new on-site group, we would like to ask for any members with characters who are to be part of the Kingdom to please update bios as needed and resubmit them in the Discord. This way, we know who to move and can update the Kingdom's census accordingly! We would also like to encourage bios for the Kingdom! These cats can originate from any of the three Clans or as an outsider, especially as word of the new group spreads throughout the valley. 


Our half-moon gathering is also still going on for our medicine cats and their apprentices. This is the first on-site half-moon gathering and we are looking forward to seeing how the relationships between our Clan healers develops! Feel free to post out of order if needed to keep the thread moving!

OTMs

For our last site update, we want to recognize our next batch of OTMs! If at any point you feel a particular member, character, or thread is deserving of being recognized, please reach out to staff with nominations! As a reminder, all recognized members (and the players of recognized characters and thread participants) are rewarded the use of a special prefix!


MEMBER OTM ♦ Bones is our October member otm! Despite being one of our newer members, Bones has already dazzled us with intriguing characters, exciting adopts, and her lovely friendship in our Discord! From the short-tempered Rockscreech to the anxious Ant, we are excited to see what plots this motley crew gets up to and we know Bones won't disappoint!

CHARACTER OTM ♦ Watching characters develop on-site is our favorite thing to see, and it's hard to ignore the journey that Cherrynose is currently on! We have loved watching Cherry accept her rejection of her home and work alongside Laurelfern to make the Kingdom a reality! With plans to lead one of the Kingdom's camp, we are eagerly anticipating where Cherry's story will go next.

THREAD OTM ♦ We enjoyed reading (and writing in!) all the event threads, but the unanimous favorite was Inside This Mansion. This thread explores the relationship between a younger Dawnclaw (just a 'paw here) and his father, Sunstorm as they focus on a dangerous hunt in the wake of the death of Hemlockheart. Jae and Spotted weave a complex relationship that keep us wanting more and make us look forward to a present-day confrontation between the two!
