welcome
Welcome to Whitewater!
We are a traditional Warriors roleplay that opened June 2022. This guide is set up to help new members locate essential information, so if you're looking to join us, then this is a great place to start!
Here are some quick steps to help you get started:
1. Read our rules, found here. This will ensure that you can be sure that our expectations line up with what you want from a roleplay community! Below is a quick review of our most important rules:
♦ Members must be 18+. Our content is PG-13, but our members are adults and we want to keep this a comfortable community for them. Feel free to check out our affiliates if you are below our age limit!
♦ We are LGBTQ+ and minority friendly and will not tolerate any form of discrimination, either on the forum or in our Discord server. This is meant to be a safe space for all.
♦ Outside of high ranks, we do not have required posting amounts. We do, however, have regular activity checks, and if we notice a drop in activity or lack of posting, we will reach out to you.
♦ Members have one month after joining to get a character approved. If you need more time or help, please reach out to our staff team!
♦ Whitewater does not permit the use of outside posting templates for roleplay. We provide all templates for functionality and aesthetic.
2. If you agree with our rules, then the next step is to create an account. Whitewater is a one account per member site, so please do not create an account for any of your characters! We utilize post-specific avatars to differentiate character posts.
3. Join us on Discord! While it's not required to join, it is strongly encouraged. This will be the easiest way to be involved with the community, seek staff help, and participate in plotting.
4. Read our lore. Whitewater features three developed clans and several non-clan groups with individual cultures, traditions, and struggles. Below will summarize important links to read up on the world of Whitewater!
5. Create a character. Below will summarize our character creation requirements and the best ways to integrate your character into the clans.

character creation
Our character application can be found here. Our application is mostly freeform, with a description-based section for the majority of your character's details.
Whitewater adheres to stricter naming guidelines compared to most forums. Our character creation rules have further details on our naming conventions.
♦Prefixes must be able to be found in our setting's general region (Mountainous Northwest USA, so think Montana, Wyoming, & Idaho).
♦ Suffixes must come from our approved suffix list to provide consistency and meaning to names. Staff is always accepting suggestions for new suffixes!
You must use a photo of a cat for your character. While character art can be used as the optional images at the bottom of the application or for your character's avatar, the application picture must be a photo. Staff can help find faceclaims if you need assistance!
We heavily encourage checking out our site adoptables and member wanted ads for character inspiration. This will provide a great opportunity to have immediate connections within the clans and with the plot. You can also post in the #plotting channel in Discord to form connections.
We require a 'pre-plotted' section to be filled out in your character's relations. This will be the character's relationship to their group plot and/or the wanted ad they are from. This is to ensure all new characters have a place within the valley!

jumping in
With four original groups as well as clanless opportunities, there are a lot of places to jump into Whitewater's story! Each group has their own unique plot, dealing with both internal struggles as well as broader tensions that go beyond borders. Below are two strategies we recommend for members to get involved, whether you are new or a current member looking to make a new character!
1. Pick a group. After reading through the details on our groups, pick the one with the lore and struggles that interest you the most! You can focus on that group's wanted ads, plot adoptables, and guides to find your footing!
2. Pick a Character. If group doesn't matter to you, then focus on your character and their story! Again, wanted ads are a great place to start to see if any ideas align with what you're looking for. If you already have a character idea in mind, you can also develop them and see where our members think they might fit best!
Staff is always open to character plots and subplots. Character development and relationships are our favorite aspects of roleplay, so if there's a way to fit your idea into Whitewater, then we would love to work with you!
