[attr="class","blurb2"]”Loyal” is still a term that many will raise their brows at if used in association with Dawnclaw. Deserter, betrayer, ruthless, coward—now those are all words used at some point or another to describe him. Raised to be his father’s golden heir and trained from kithood to try and be the valley’s greatest warrior, not a soul in RidgeClan saw his desertion coming. To MistClan, no less. Wolfstar’s holy crusade was a pivotal awakening: the horrifying ordeal of realizing RidgeClan’s corruption, that his own father was perhaps one of the worst of them… and that he needed to atone.

After he tried and failed to convince his sister to run with him, Dawnclaw broke his own heart and defected to MistClan. He was received like a prisoner at first, but over the year following his joining, he worked hard at building their trust and becoming one of them. He has found a deep, enduring love for his new home, culture, and kin. He can, has, and will fight tooth and claw for them. But as he has begun to heal from his past, he has learned that there is more to clan life than battle and glory. There is more to life than battle and glory.

[attr="class","blurb2"]

• Found Family. Maybe two or three cats of MistClan he can grow truly close to and call true friends—friends that will always give him honesty, and ultimately, the love of a family. These cats would all be interwoven together. [may put up a want ad]
• Allies. A good ally is one that sees you on equal ground, and that’s the least of what Dawnclaw expects out of someone he feels an allyship to. He hopes any ally might feel the same of him. They don’t have to like each other, but they need to respect each other, and respect that they have common goals or ideals in mind.
• Rivals. Dawnclaw has no shortage of rivals or enemies. He knows already that those who still deign to spend their thoughts on him in RidgeClan do so with venom or disdain. There are PrarieClanners he knows who wouldn’t mind spilling his blood, and really, it’s only a matter of time before he finds himself disliked outside Clan territories too. Even some in MistClan still might see him as an unfortunate interloper, to put it gently.

[attr="class","blurbpos"]+ IRISFROST. Iris and Dawn’s story began on a warm evening, when the she-cat stole away up the warrior tree after the tom. She cornered him on his nest branch, interrogating him about her missing kits. It was that night he vowed to find out what happened to them, and to see them returned to her if he could. As he started to push the topic with Hailstar more, he began teaching her to refine her combat skills too. This tense alliance has bloomed into a unique sort of friendship, finding a natural, comfortable rhythm together. They are dedicated to searching for her kits, and to supporting each other as they navigate finding themselves now that they both live in defiance of what their parents wanted them to be.

[break]+ HAILSTAR. While it perhaps isn't quite a friendship between Dawn and Hail, there is certainly an allyship. Dawnclaw feels secure in Hailstar's trust, and has even been comfortable enough to share his opinions and pushed for a harder effort in finding the lost kits. The leader seems to see something in him and his hope, and has not only granted him the permission required to expand the search, but defended Dawnclaw’s integrity in the wake of the border skirmish — where he himself took Mushroomstar’s first life and threatened the precarious time of quiet between the clans. Dawn will not forget a gesture like that.

[break]+ FLICKERHEART. A moon or so after Dawnclaw arrived in MistClan, an old clanmate made that same impossible choice. Flicker has been an invaluable comrade in the clan, both sharing the same hopes and ideals in healing and growing from what RidgeClan became. They couldn’t spend too much time together in the beginning, lest they look like they were scheming, but he finds excuses to spend time with her, even if only to indulge in reminiscing about the things they missed, or to talk about the new lifestyle they’ve learned to live.

[break]+ MILKPAW. When Dawnclaw met his first apprentice, he was afraid for her. She is a soft, sweet she-cat, with a gentle and excitable heart. Always afraid of war on the horizon, he can’t bear to see her fall under another cat’s claws. He began her training with vigorous militance, but has begun to realize he needs to learn more ways than the way his father and mentor trained him—Milkpaw deserves better than that.

[break]+ WISPFANG. While Dawnclaw isn’t totally sure he trusts Wispfang’s true motivations, he doesn’t suspect the tom to be villainous. Bloodthirsty and irreverent, to be sure. But he appears to hate RidgeClan, and even though that puts Dawnclaw in his line of sight, there is an understanding between them for now, one that challenges each other’s loyalties with respect — they would protect MistClan from anyone… perhaps from even each other.

[attr="class","blurbneg"]- SUNSTORM.Dawnclaw's father is one of his greatest enemies. He is the tom that made him what he is: a brutal fighter, one that knows how to kill and do it well. Sunstorm was vicious in raising Dawnclaw and Duskfang, unforgiving and violent with impossible expectations. He demanded more from them than they could give. Dawnclaw, by all rights, was his golden son. He had been desperate for his father's approval his whole life, willing to do anything to prove he was worthy, right up until he made his first kill in battle. He realized the monster his father had turned him into, and bitterness started to fester as he began to understand the sort of tom his father was.

[break]- DUSKFANG. Dawnclaw harbors nothing but pain that his sister has become a rival - perhaps in her eyes, enemies. He adores and misses her. Leaving RidgeClan—leaving her—left a deep scar in their relationship. They'd once been best friends, each other's other half, the flip side to a coin. He tried to get her to come with him, but she hadn't been ready to see the corruption and cruelty in their father, wasn't ready to admit that he never loved them. Dawnclaw wants so badly for his sister to be back at his side in MistClan, and knows he could never hurt her in battle. No matter what, she’s still his sister.

[break]- MUSHROOMSTAR. Dawnclaw never intended to make an enemy out of RidgeClan's new leader — he hardly knew anything about the tom, really. In the skirmish at the border, both the toms had tried to keep the conflict under control and prevent violence. Unfortunately, the she-cats with them were sharp-tongued and hotheaded, Rosewhisker and Bristleclaw seeming to have an animosity between them that Dawnclaw didn't expect. When the fight broke out, there was no choice - he and Mushroomstar clashed to keep each other off of the other she-cat. Dawnclaw took the tom's first life from him, creating a rift he knows may never be mended. The RidgeClan leader made his hatred for Dawnclaw known to all the clans at a gathering.

[break]- GOOSEFIRE. Like Flickerheart, Goosefire fled RidgeClan to seek sanctuary in MistClan too. Unlike the way he trusts Flickerheart, Dawnclaw doesn’t trust him, even without the proof to back it up. He grew up with the old tom as close friends with Sunstorm, something that once had him thinking Goosefire was one of the the greats. In sparring lessons Sunstorm put him up to, Goosefire was sometimes of his brutal opponents, and certainly wasn’t known for his kindness. Now in MistClan, Dawnclaw tries to let go of the judgements—after all, he was Sunstorm’s golden boy—but can’t seem to stop keeping at least one eye on the warrior.

[break]- MINKFROST. Dawnclaw and Minkfrost have never formally met, and it’s good they haven’t. It was Dawn that gutted Mink’s father on the battlefield as she watched on in horror. As much as Dawnclaw relives that moment over, and over, and over, he knows that the PrarieClan warrior’s loved ones must suffer the same. He is afraid to face that tom’s family, but one day, he is bound to come face to face with Minkfrost, to answer for taking her father from her.
