the world, it burns through me
Toadfeather's backstory includes his parents, his brother, his mentor's not-quite mate, and his first apprentice. These are warriors who's opinions he values strongly and who guide a lot of his motivations, and he may guide some of theirs.
Not listed here are: any younger siblings that Toadfeather and Lavendergaze may have, or any potential love interest of Toadfeather. Hit me up on discord if you're interested in joining his family tree or developing some kind of romance!
For most of these characters, all the biographical details are up to the roleplayer so long as it doesn't conflict strongly with Toadfeather's bio. Appearance especially is up to the roleplayer, but Aspenfleck, Lavenderpelt, and Toadfeather should remain looking pretty similar, and if the new appearance doesn't match their name then their names should be adjusted to fit! Ages are a little more set in stone to keep things logically consistent.

ASPENFLECK | he/him | 67+ You envision RidgeClan as being that which has the closest bond with StarClan. In many ways, your views are not so different from Wolfstar's. You may even have supported Wolfstar, at least in the beginning. But there are two things you hold dearer than any of that: your mate, and your kits. Though you have lofty goals, those were subdued in many ways by forming a family. Crowscreech was persistent in her affection for you, despite your solitary nature, and your kits are dearer to you than you could know. No ambition could outweigh that. Aspenfleck's and Crowscreech's relationship makes a big appearance in Toadfeather's bio during the kithood section! Aspenfleck shares some views with Toadfeather, but there's room for differences, too. In the RidgeClan plot ad, he would likely not identify with the cats who believe rebuilding RidgeClan is hopeless. |
CROWSCREECH | she/her | 67+ Aspenfleck is ambitious. But you are much better at social climbing than your mate is. The daughter of a disgraced warrior, you had to use your charisma and extroversion to claw your way up in the clan. There were many mates you could have taken, if not Aspenfleck. But Aspenfleck had a solid standing in the clan and a calm demeanor that you were fond of. Maybe, he even had your heart. If not then, he at least has it now, after many moons of trust and loyalty. You also sired at least one litter with him - and as a mother, you can best be described as somehow both overbearing and absent minded. Your offspring love you regardless. Crowscreech's opinions on the war with MistClan are up to the roleplayer, as long as her motivations are power and social climbing over fanaticism. She would likely not identify with the cats who believe rebuilding RidgeClan is hopeless. |
LAVENDERGAZE | they/them | bio Ever since you were a kit, you knew your brother was valued over you. Quiet and clever, you always found it easier to rely on your brother's reputation and attention that fight for your own place in the clan. That mindset was confirmed when you were injured by a badger as an apprentice - and then was complicated by your brother's increasing absence as he rose in the ranks of the clan. If you had to describe your feelings about your brother now, they would probably be complicated. You don't know who you are without him, and you love him and rely on him, but at the same time, you sometimes think your life would be easier if he wasn't a part of it. How would things have been different if you started out on your own? How would things have been different if Toadfeather wasn't drifting from you, now? Lavendergaze's perspective on the war with MistClan is up to the roleplayer. Due to their demeanor, they likely would not be a good contender for the Mars role of the RidgeClan plot. |
MORNINGLIGHT | the/him | bio Though you never quite confessed to being anything more than a close companion to Eveningstep, that doesn't mean that those feelings weren't real and aren't still very much present. Once you were a free spirited and charismatic warrior, but now that you have experienced true loss, even with the worst of your grief passed you still tend to keep to yourself nowadays. Only your longest standing friends and Toadfeather, Eveningstep's apprentice, seem to be able to get through to you. Where do you go from here? Who is to blame for Eveningstep's loss? Is it Wolfstar, for his terrible crusade that led you to the battle in the first place? MistClan, for the role their warriors played in his death? StarClan, for not saving him? As you set your eyes to the horizon, sometimes you aren't even sure if healing can be found in this place. Whether or not that means moving beyond the borders of RidgeClan or giving into the violence that RidgeClan's history demands, you aren't certain. Morningtail's perspective on the war with MistClan pre- Eveningstep's death is up to the roleplayer, but they likely regret any involvement now. Their role in the clan plot, if any, is up to the roleplayer. |
LILYFLIGHT | she/her | 21-27 | bio You were young when when RidgeClan and MistClan went to war, either still an apprentice or only recently named. And you saw firsthand the consequences. Likely influenced by Toadfeather's perspective to some degree, you are at least able to acknowledge that all this bloodshed wasn't the right step for the clan's future. As one of the young warriors involved in RidgeClan's rebuilding, you have some sway in the future of the clan. However, being young, those convictions can be rocky. Will you walk the same path as your mentor, your family, your friends, or will you forge a new one entirely? Lilyflight is young enough that her role in the war was probably not major, but that doesn't mean she's too young for opinions on it. Her role in the clan's plot ad is up to the roleplayer. |
Romantic Interest | he/him | closed There are two main options here: The Sun You are the warmth where there is hopeless cold, radiance when all seems lost. You reach the deepest parts of Toadfeather's mind, the judgment and loss and arrogance that he would rather not have the world see, and you soften those parts of him either gently or with a fiery willpower. You care for Toadfeather even when it isn't easy to, and you know he cares for you in turn, even when his nature makes it difficult for him to accept love. You likely don't agree with everything Toadfeather believes, but you might align with some parts of his thought process. At the very least, you align with his loyalty to RidgeClan. And though you bring out the best in Toadfeather, that doesn't mean there aren't parts of you that need work. Maybe Toadfeather brings out the best parts of you, too. Together, maybe you can grow, and help RidgeClan move forward after so much violence. The Moon You and Toadfeather are two sides of the same coin. You are cool, poised, collected, or otherwise you're intense and moody - or a combination of the two. You know the worst parts of Toadfeather because they are also, or at least similar, to the worst parts of you. There's kinship, there. But you do not soften those parts of him - you relish in them, together. Why make him better, when you can be worse together? Your love is passionate and you are fiercely protective of each other, going to any lengths to guard your interests and plan for the future. You likely share at least some core beliefs with Toadfeather, or at the very least you'll let ambition and rank make up for a schism in your values. You bring out the worst parts of Toadfeather, but he may or may not bring out the best or worst in you. Either way, you like it when the deputy of RidgeClan is a little bad. This character's previous experience with the clan's plot, their backstory and family, and basically everything else are up to the roleplayer. The above are some fun ideas but I'm open to other plots! I would prefer this character to be a tom or nonbinary. Their appearance is also completely up to the roleplayer, this image to the left is just a placeholder. |
