appearance
basic appearance description: A large, tall feline with light gray fur, dark gray stripes, scarred back legs, and yellow eyes
Like their family tree, Lavendergaze is a large, tall feline. Muscles are prominent along their frame, as their shaggy, light gray fur drapes over them. Darker gray stripes dance around their body, intertwining and flowing along their long fur. They have rather large ears and paws. Their face is very distinct, with sharp edges and lines that form their shape. Lavendergaze also appears a lot larger than they actually is, due to all the fur they have. Underneath all that fur, they are actually quite lean and athletic.
Lavendergaze has a very horrible limp when they walk. This is due to both of their back legs being scratched and bitten by a badger when they were an apprentice. Their back legs are so scarred, they almost seem mangled; it's a wonder that they still work properly.
Their voice is low and soft, however stoic. Their speech is awkward, and seems disorganized most of the time. The big cat stumbles over their words often.
Their voice : Legoshi (wolf) from Beastars

description
0 moons to 6 moons [kithood]
Born on a rainy night, Toadkit and Lavenderkit snuggled up to their proud parents, Aspenfleck and Crowscreech. Toadkit was named for the chirping frogs in the night and his dark stripes. Meanwhile, Lavenderkit was named for their gray pelt, which looked like it had a purple hue in the correct and specific lighting.
From quite a young age, their parents could distinguish the personalities between the two children. Toadkit, like his namesake, slowly became eager to jump into the action of playing and conversing with his peers. Lavenderkit, like the plant that sits and sways in the breeze, cared more to observe than act, and stayed that way throughout their youth.
One night, as their mother, Crowscreech, was sound asleep, Lavenderkit looked over to their brother, an emotionless blank face showing. "He likes you more than me," the gray kit spoke, with Toadkit immediately catching their gaze. "Dad?" Toadkit asked, before they slowly gave a little nod. It was hard for little Lavenderkit to wrap their head around, especially at such a young age. They wanted to do everything they could to make their parents proud, but they weren't overly ambitious or ecstatic to begin their training. Being a wariror was anxiety-inducing. There was so much to worry about, and one wrong move could lead to your demise. Lavenderkit knew they weren't the fastest, the bravest, the strongest. Hell, they were really the weakest. But they were smart, and knew how to judge situations before conquering them.
"So what," Toadkit mewed, interrupting Lavenderkit's train of thought. "I like you. It doesn't matter if our parents have favorites." Lavenderkit looked at Toadkit, with a knowing look. They knew that their brother did. They were two hatchlings in a nest. It seemed they always did a lot together, even if Toadkit was more social. It was oblivious to them that their mother favored them, however. But if their brother was there for them, what else did they need? "Yeah. It doesn't matter," Lavenderkit murmured, a small smile crawling on their lips, as much as they tried to hide it, as they went to fall asleep with Toadkit next to them.
Lavenderkit always knew that their father, Aspenfleck, would sneak Toadkit out of camp... but not them.
6 moons to 15 moons [apprenticeship]
The young kit could barely keep their paws still, as they sat next to their brother. The words "Don't be nervous," ran in their ears from Toadkit's helpful words from that morning. Everything was a blur until they got to their naming ceremony. But sitting next to their brother somehow calmed them down before it had begun.
His mentor, Sharpeye, was vastly different than Toadpaw's mentor, Eveningstep. Lavenderpaw was taken to begin their training in the forest, while Toadpaw was not allowed until several days later. Lavenderpaw was actually learning more than they had thought, and for a sliver of a moment, they enjoyed themselves. The mentor and apprentice had a great partnership and matched personalities. However, this quickly changed the first day that Toadpaw came to join the others.
All the other apprentices gawked and awed over Toadpaw's skills. Lavenderpaw, unknown to even themselves, had felt the superiority that their brother had started to feel over them. It caused the young adolescent to pick up bad habits that were hard to change, they would miss prey more than they would catch. While Lavenderpaw was making good process and would become a great warrior in the end, it was nothing compared to the feat that Toadpaw had conquered.
The event of the badger attacking Lavenderpaw and Sharpeye while solo training sealed the deal on their training. Lavenderpaw had been so focused on getting better, that they didn't even know of the badger approaching behind them, even with their mentor's calls. However, the adolescent put up a good fight, but came from it with severe injuries to both of their back legs. It became infected quickly, and Lavenderpaw had to face the realization of their training being delayed.
"I'll catch you a rabbit when you can eat again. The biggest one I can find." Lavenderpaw only gave a small smile through their pain, as words were hard to find in that moment of pain, due to the infection. Their legs felt like they were attached anymore, but anytime that they looked back, they were still there. The fever from the infection made the youngster feel light-headed, and everything slowed down. Still, the adolescent could see through their brother's hiding of the truth. Again, what they lacked in strength was made up for in smarts. They knew that herbs were hard to find this season, and the road to recovery would take much longer due to this. Their eyes felt heavy, almost if they were on the verge of crying, but Toadpaw knew what his sibling was saying. "You're so strong, Lavenderpaw. You're going to heal in no time," they heard their brother. Again, they could see through him. As much as Toadpaw knew and felt toward Lavenderpaw about their emotions and feelings, Lavenderpaw was the same way with Toadpaw, even if he didn't use it during interactions. After Toadpaw promised that Crowscreech wouldn't come see her child in so much anguish and pain, Lavenderpaw slumped and fell asleep. While they had their buried, unrealized differences with their brother, they couldn't help but feel the need to have him with them when they slept.
With no interest in the healing arts, the days of recovery felt like an eternity. All Lavenderpaw would do is play with a moss ball, with kicking it between his injured legs once they were healed enough so they could slowly regain strength. It wasn't long before the adolescent could begin to sit on them, then take one step, then more.
Even with the tremendous process that they thought they were making, it almost seemed to be erased from their mind when Toadpaw was named Toadfeather. They couldn't hide their anger. Their brother knew they were better than them and couldn't even wait for their sibling to heal.
Before long, Lavenderpaw returned to their training, and they were named Lavendergaze around four moons after their brother became a warrior.
15 moons to Present [warrior]
Eventually, just like Toadfeather, they got an apprentice of their own. Redpaw was a fiery, young thing. However, the personality of Lavendergaze had complemented the apprentice and led the adolescent to take on their traits of being reserved and intelligent in battle.
However, it was at this point, before the battle with Mistclan, that Lavendergaze had come to terms with the feelings they had. Toadfeather felt they were better than Lavendergaze. Maybe he was. It had always been built up to this point, but Lavendergaze didn't want to accept it as true. It caused them to slowly begin to distance themselves from their brother. They only focused on being the best they could and trying to ride off the success of Toadfeather for their own good. It worked. Cats appreciated their work, but they would focus on their brother. It allowed Lavendergaze to fade into the background. Out of sight, out of mind.
The battle of Ridgeclan opened up their eyes. They fought alongside Toadfeather, Sharpeye, and, now, Redshade, but they realized the amount of damage that feeling too powerful can do. Maybe Toadfeather will get to this point, they thought, tucking themselves away from their brother.
Before Lavendergaze knew it, Toadfeather was deputy. They couldn't help feel jealous. Not because of the position, but of the position they had found themselves in the clan. What would have been different if they were on top, while Toadfeather stayed at the bottom?
But Lavendergaze now found themselves in more trouble. One day during hunting, they suddenly felt nauseous. The next thing they remember, they had woken up on the ground, with Sharpeye and Redshade around them. Sharpeye said that he was convulsing. The seizure was nothing new to the tom, however, as the previous Oracle of Ridgeclan had them before. Lavendergaze's heart jumped a beat at the mention of the Oracle, but they brushed it off. They just needed to rest, and maybe they would be better.
But when they slept, they awoke. They awoke in a starry place. As they looked around, cats with stars began to poke their heads out toward them. Terrified, they woke from the believed nightmare.
Since then, the gray cat had continued to have seizures and dreams of starry cats every time they slept. The developed insomniac-like tendencies, as this would prevent the dreams. They would be able to learn when they would happen, though. They would get really sick to their stomach, and their head would spin. Each time, they would make it to a secluded area where no cats were around to allow the seizure to pass. However, the seizures were becoming more frequent, and Lavendergaze didn't know how much longer until the clan would learn of this.
All answers that he looked for from others led them back to the Oracle. Lavendergaze began to fear that Starclan was trying to tell them that they would be the next. However, there was one cat they hadn't talked to about it. Toadfeather. The two siblings were very complicated, and they hadn't spoke in a long time. If they did, it would sometimes lead to some passive aggressive conversations. Toadfeather was the one cat they needed to talk to, but they refused.

Pre-Plotting: Lavendergaze aligns with Saturn in the Ridgeclan Plot View. Having these episodes that are eerily similar to the previous Oracle, Lavendergaze must face the issues and criticisms that they will receive for this role. Lavendergaze is used to being in the background, rather than the limelight, so this is an awkward and uncomfortable transition for them.
Lavendergaze is the sibling of Toadfeather, the Ridgeclan deputy. To not sugar-coat it, their relationship is strained and complicated. While Lavendergaze cares for their brother, and knows that they rely on them, they wonder if life would be different if they had been more independent from their sibling. What if they continued to be independent now that they are distant? But how will Toadfeather react when he sees that Lavendergaze is the new Oracle?
