appearance
a dark charcoal tabby tom with sky-blue eyes
He's built like his father. Tall, rough, handsome. A real heart-throb for any cat that crosses his path. Cragpaw is built tough, much like his namesake. Cliffs are hard to crumble, and the adolescent is the same way. He is more muscle and brawn than anything else, with a shiny coat that his mother insists that he maintains at all times. Cragpaw is a deep charcoal hue, once again resembling the deep patches of color on Thrushpelt. However, he shares his mother's features as well. He adopted her white undercoat and tabby markings, making him a true stunner amongst the browns and grays of the clan.

description
kithood [0-6 moons]
Everything was absolutely perfect when they were born. Instantly, they were viewed as the favorites of the family and Dapplefang made sure they knew. As far as the three tiny kits knew, they were part of a loving and committed marriage between their parents, Thrushpelt and Lizardtail. They were supposed to be the perfect, normal warrior family.
Supposed to be, is the key words in his story.
Suddenly, his aunt, Yarrowflight had kits two moons after Lizardtail's litter. It was even more shocking to Cragkit when it was revealed that the kits were born in infidelity with his father's infidelity! And not only that, but his father left with his aunt, leaving the half-siblings, but also cousins, behind as a reminder of his sins.
He became sheltered under his mother's care, who's obsessive nature at seeming like a perfect family caused him paranoia at a young age. He knew he had to be the best kit. Blazekit, Graykit, and himself had to be the best that there was.
Better than the demon spawn that his father and aunt left behind.
"And you wanna know wwhhhyyyy?"he cut into the argument. Seeing his sister start the fight gave him the confidence in which he lacked. "Cuz YOUR MOM stole OUR DAD and ruined eeeeevveeeerrythiiinng! Like, the whooole family. And they didn't even waaaaant you two, so they, like, bailed."
The clash of tiny teeth and claws was quick, before Lizardtail stepped into the tussle. Seeing them grounded from outside the nursery gives a sweet bliss, a nice feeling that seemed to mask the insecurity of his tarnished family tree.
apprenticeship [6 moons to present]
Finally, her got his apprentice name. It took so long to be able to finally call himself Cragpaw. His siblings and himself deserved this. After the sad looks and whispers around his family, it was finally time to prove that his family line was just as strong as ever.
That is, until he was given the mentor of Rockscreech.
Rockscreech, though he would never admit it, was scary. Tattered and scarred from limb to limb, he couldn't help but gulp loudly when touching his nose to the other tom's.
During an outing with Graypaw, however, that was where he met Shrikepaw. It quickly came apparent that he grew nervous around her. It was easy to pick up, and it only got worse when apprentices would catch him looking at Shrikepaw from a distance when with his blood sibling. He wants to be friends with her so badly. Her family is as fucked up as his, they could probably be good friends. But, unfortunately for him, the nosey apprentices start rumors about something else.
"And you mostly hang out with Blazepaw. But maybe if you gave Blazepaw some space, then your crush--"
"Stars, you're stu-pid!" Cragpaw flattened his ears. Was Shadepaw talking about Shrikepaw? ...did he have a crush on her? No, not really. But what did a crush even feel like? ...Did he? "I meant you have no frien-"
A few more bickerings between all the apprentices resulted in another fight. Cragpaw intercepted an attack on Blazepaw, and he began to clash with Nightpaw. Everything happened so fast that he barely felt Rockscreech pull him back. That is, until his mentor smacked his ears in frustration for his actions. Accusations began to fly, but the twins were the one to take the blame eventually, thanks to Lizardtail's persistence. Again, it felt accomplished for Cragpaw to see them receive some kind of punishment. As if it was StarClan's curse on them for their parent's sins.
"Do you think I'm a fool, Cragpaw?" Rockscreech sat in front of Cragpaw, with the guardian's paws bapping the apprentice's ears in annoyance. "I'm not one to interfere in family business, but you have as much guilt as those two." How, how dare he say- "Maybe if you kept that energy up in your training, you can start to become a guardian like me. Mushroomstar is impressed with your progress, minus your... issues with your siblings." A guardian? He hadn't even considered it. "Let me try to guide you. Be brutal and brash with your family ties, but don't be stupid."
Cragpaw nodded, as they headed into the mountains together.
It was hard to keep out of trouble, to not mock his cousins in passing. But he still let them know his distaste, just not as brash as Blazepaw. He knew his mentor would back him up if he got into another argument or fight with the twins, but he just needed to be more careful with how he engaged with them from now on.
But with the prospects of guardian training, he saw himself in his mentor sometimes. He could be like Rockscreech and make everyone fear his wrath.
