Now a fierce warrior of MistClan, Dawnclaw is a tom raised in Wolfstar-era RidgeClan by the merciless Sunstorm (advertised here). He and his beloved twin sister were the cream of the crop in both skill and loyalty, but nothing if not brainwashed into elitism. When war broke out, Dawn got a taste of what it was like to kill, and he found it terrible to stomach. He defected from RidgeClan, willing to lose what meant most to him (Duskfang) to stay true to his values - death should only ever come about as the final option. Harm should only ever be the final option. He found his place in MistClan, where he threw himself into proving his dedication to his new home and family, seeking belonging as much as he was seeking absolution.
Now a year after his arrival, he has established himself. He has proven how far he will go to defend their borders, from taking on the leader of his old clan to relentlessly searching for the missing kits. Irisfrost, their mother, has become a close friend (and is on the path to it becoming much more). He has found some kinship in Flickerheart. He’s found his way. But now, he needs to connect. He needs to find his family, a healthy one he can trust and rely on beyond the shadow of any doubt.
I’m looking for Dawnclaw’s inner circle — cats who will turn to each other equally for support, safety, and love. They will become a tightly-knit family, made up of those who have had hard experiences in their own lives. These are not already formed friendships. I’d like to see these characters come together IC and develop their relationships in real time, both with Dawnclaw and each other.
Once all cats are adopted, I’d love to plot somethingharrowing fun to bring them all together! Group threads and threads with each other are encouraged.

 | SMOKEGAZE| taken [ from Rot in the Roots ] Well bred from a line of respected warriors on both sides, Smokegaze always has had a lot to live up to as son of Swanflight, of Beechstripe. He and his brother were pushed to be the best warriors, his sister pushed to be a permaqueen, with heavy implications that they would be failures if they weren’t. He was never close to his sister, a wall put between them on the diverging paths that had been chosen for them. His father, likely distant, did little to mitigate the controlling nature of their mother. When Ashstrike died in the war, the pressure pressed down harder than ever. A nightmare for this reserved tom, who likely never felt adequate enough to meet his family’s impossible standards. When his sister’s kits disappeared, he plainly saw his mother’s callousness toward Irisfrost and toward the horror of losing them. He has yet to figure out how to bridge the gap between them, especially in the wake of so much pain. Appearance is open. His personality is open, though he was imagined to be the more reserved of the two brothers of the litter. His moral compass should align with Dawnclaw’s, but how he felt about him joining MistClan, how he currently feels about him, and what he thinks of his relationship with Irisfrost is up to you.  | MAPLETAIL| taken [ from The Birds Still Sing ] Mapletail's family is big, so he had to stand out right from the start. He’s bold, well-spoken, and he’s one of the greatest — though some (his siblings) might replace those words for loud, obnoxious, and egotistical. Some! Not most. The Clan as a majority loves the beautiful Mapletail, and he owns it, and fosters it well. Or so he lets everyone believe. At least… he did. Maybe he still does, but nothing has been the same since the war. Since they all lost Mountainbranch and Ashfur, and it is perhaps the loss of his brother that weighs the heaviest. But he’s Mapletail! Nothing can bring him down, right? Right. So he tucks the pain close, where no one can see it, and he will guard it until the day it refuses to be contained anymore.
