AFFILIATIONS & ENEMIES
Affiliated Factions: - Ridgeclan: Honeythorn is a Guardian of Ridgeclan in good standing. Currently, he is secretly harboring doubts as to if he wishes to stay in his birth clan or join the mother of his children in her plan to make a new - better - community.
Enemy Factions: - N/A: Despite Ridgeclan and Mistclan's war, Honeythorn does not consider any clan as a whole his enemy. He will warn and escort out peaceful trespassers carefully, however.
FORTES & FLAWS
Skills: - Combat: While Honeythorn is skilled at combat, it is mostly from brute force and a rabid desire to protect others. He is not the most tactically minded warrior, but he is a mighty opponent due to his unfailing bravery and sacrifice. When pushed, Honeythorn can turn downright savage, ignoring rational sense and tunnelvisoning on a threat. Only his closest friends or family can break him out of such a state, but it is usually threats to them that engage this side of him in the first place.
- Swimming/Diving: Due to many moons of hydrotherapy, Honeythorn is nearly just as home in the water as he is on land. He is an excellent swimmer and even diver on occasion to rescue those less water inclined. He is often sent on river guardian patrols for this reason.
- Climbing: He is no Mistclan cat, but as a specialized aerial hunter, he has learned to climb trees to ambush or follow raptors and has solid footing on hard mountainous terrain.
- Tracking: Again, due in part to his guardian training in Ridgeclan, Honeythorn is a skilled tracker when it comes to both prey and predator. He has learned to be extremely vigilant to protect his clanmates and steer them away from danger before it becomes a more severe problem.
- Hunting & Fishing: Arguably, Honeythorn is a more skilled fisher than he is hunter. He can sometimes be too heavy pawed to hunt more sensitive and exclusively terrestrial creatures such as mice, shrews and small rabbits. Extended crouching for long periods of time also results in pain in his front legs due to his arthritis. In and on the water's edge, he is a masterful fisher. Currently holding the record in Ridgeclan for largest fish ever caught. He is extremely proud of this skill, especially in the harsher months where he can provide more nutritious food to his fellows than scrawny rodents.
- Hawk/Raptor Hunting: Birds of prey, on par with fishing, are his hunting specialty - particularly osprey due to their proximity to water. He is able to leap very high, even from level ground, knowing just how to disable a bird before it can hurt his charge(s). He knows the nesting habits, calls and silhouettes of all birds of prey.
Weaknesses: - Emotional Regulation: Honeythorn has always been and will always be an emotional cat. When he feels, he feels deeply. Due to bullying in his younger years for this trait, he has learned the unhealthy habit of repressing his emotions with extreme compartmentalization. He will bottle them until he explodes - often in anger. He loathes when others see him cry and will often isolate himself to do so due to fear of ridicule. After an explosion, in the fallout, he will often turn emotionally numb for the next few days afterwards - exhausted from feeling months worth of emotion all at once and steeling himself to repress once again.
- Lack of direction/purpose: While he might seem as if he has his life together, behind the curtain, he lives many days in uncertainty. Most of his life has been dedicated to the service of others, and as such he has little idea on what to do if that was taken away - either passively or forcefully. He could not name any of his personal wants without mentioning his dedication to preserving the comfort of other's lives. And while he does enjoy serving as a protector - it has more or less become his entire identity and he struggles to consciously find his own needs - let alone prioritize them.
Character Flaws: - VIGILANTE: Honeythorn's loyal and protective nature lend itself to taking justice into his own hands should the situation not be resolved to his standards. He has his own code of justice and often follows the eye-for-an-eye philosophy. He will often be the first one to come to someone's defense should he feel the situation is unjust, even if they are a stranger.
- QUICK-TEMPERED: While he has tempered somewhat with age, Honeythorn still certainly has a hair trigger when it comes to threats to his loved ones. He is not as quick to - unprovoked - physical violence as he was when he was an apprentice, but that does not mean he refuses to take part altogether.
- SELF-DESTRUCTIVE: Honeythorn has little fear of self-injury and death if it means protecting someone else. Likely stemming from a hidden self-worth issue, even though he would not admit or acknowledge so. He will make extreme personal sacrifices that often lead to physical or emotional trauma to keep those he cares for safe.
VIEWS, METHODOLOGY & PSYCHOLOGY
Views on Religion & Starclan: - Unorthodox Casual Adherent (Inclusive): The tom's relationship with Starclan is complicated and has morphed over time. Being raised in the devout Ridgeclan has certainly affected his viewpoint. He believes both a Starclan and a Dark Forest exist, but only for cats who believe in such things. He does not think they have an immediate impact on the physical world around them like most clan cats, but rather - at best - hold a karmic reverence. Ancestors should not be worshiped and looked to for protection, but rather simply respected and their stories remembered.
Wolfstar's zealotry has indeed put a sour taste in his mouth when it comes to religion. Witnessing it weaponized appalled him. He believes all cats have the right to believe what they choose to - as long it does not cause suffering to others. In Ridgeclan, on the surface, when it comes to religion he much resembles a cat of Saturn. He does not broadcast his unorthodox beliefs openly, and even many of his loved ones do not know the breadth of his spiritual beliefs.
