SOOTGAZE | open Sootgaze is Laurelfern’s friend at 62 moons old. He is also Berryflower’s littermate. Despite being a tad too brusque, cynical, and arrogant for most cats to tolerate, Sootgaze somehow maintained his friendship with Laurelfern, which began when they were young apprentices. She thought his better traits, like creativity, curiosity, and rationality, far outweighed his negative ones. His friends have learned to simply disregard his rude comments, as well as to encourage his originality. He and his sister were introduced to Laurelfern by Cricketleap shortly after becoming apprentices. The four of them developed strong bonds with each other, ones that were capable of lasting beyond a single lifetime. It took a lot of convincing to get Sootgaze to venture into the mountains with them, but his friends were relentless. Luckily for them, he really enjoyed visiting the mountains and exploring. Like his friends, Sootgaze refused to fight in the war. He just didn’t think he should fight for something he didn’t believe in. When Laurelfern came to him with the idea of moving to the mountains, he thought it to be a bad one. It wouldn’t be easy, starting somewhere new, especially somewhere as dangerous as the mountains, but his friends soon changed his mind. He most likely joined the Skywalkers. |
BERRYFLOWER | open Berryflower is Laurelfern’s friend at 62 moons old. She is also Sootgaze’s littermate. One of the more empathetic and sensitive cats in the clans, it’s not difficult for Berryflower to make friends, which is probably why she instantly connected with Laurelfern. Unfortunately, she can be too trusting and naive, which leaves her vulnerable to those with vile intentions, but fortunately, she has friends who are protective of her and who care a lot about her. She and her brother were introduced to Laurelfern by Cricketleap shortly after becoming apprentices. The four of them developed strong bonds with each other, ones that were capable of lasting beyond a single lifetime. Perhaps due to her malleable personality, Berryflower’s friends were able to easily overpower her anxiety and persuade her to join them on their trip to the mountains, an adventure she learned to enjoy. Like her friends, Berryflower refused to fight in the war. She just didn’t think she should fight for something she didn’t believe in. When Laurelfern came to her with the idea of moving to the mountains, she expressed uncertainty, even though she knew she’d follow her friends anywhere. She had her fears about building something new elsewhere, but so long as she had her friends’ support, she was sure she’d be alright. She most likely joined the Riverwalkers. |
CRICKETLEAP | open Cricketleap is Laurelfern’s friend at 64 moons old. Most underestimate Cricketleap due to her spontaneous and rebellious nature, but she’s an independent and astute molly, traits Laurelfern always recognized in her and appreciated. Courageous and fun-loving, she is an admirable cat, particularly among the younger crowd, but older cats tend to criticize her rash nature. Among her friends, she’s the optimistic one who encourages them to take risks. Just a couple moons into her apprenticeship, Cricketleap introduced Sootgaze and Berryflower to Laurelfern. The four of them developed strong bonds with each other, ones that were capable of lasting beyond a single lifetime. It took absolutely zero coaxing to get Cricketleap to journey to the mountains with her friends. She couldn’t have jumped faster at the chance to cross over the border and explore the unknown. Like her friends, Cricketleap refused to fight in the war. She just didn’t think she should fight for something she didn’t believe in. When Laurelfern came to her with the idea of moving to the mountains, she didn’t even need time to think about it - she was all for it. Cricketleap was aware of the dangers of starting new somewhere so hazardous, but she was confident they’d build something great. She most likely joined the Nightwalkers. |
The older brother of Martenfoot, who was bold and confrontational, Honeythorn adopted a composed and paternal personality. He was close with his little sibling and after Martenfoot left RidgeClan, Honeythorn found comfort in sharing stories about him with Laurelfern, who had been Martenfoot’s mentor. They supported each other through their sorrow and became close friends. It was a surprise when Laurelfern discovered she was expecting, but she and Honeythorn promised to work together to raise their children. He visited the nursery every day to play with his sons and teach them responsibility. He was a proud, terrific father who was very involved in his kits’ lives and loved nothing more than to spend time with them. When one of his sons, Owlheart - Owlpaw, at the time - was confined to the medicine cat den after experiencing a near-fatal attack from a lynx, Honeythorn rarely left his side. And after his other son, Kestrelthorn, lost the cat he’d had a crush on in the war, Honeythorn provided him with consolation. Throughout the tragedies that struck their family, his connection with Laurelfern remained strong. |
Under the care of his adoring parents, Kestrelthorn had a happy upbringing. He and his littermate were considered the little terrors of RidgeClan and enjoyed spending their time tripping warriors who were hard at work and badgering apprentices until they showed them battle techniques. He always had a very powerful bond with his brother, a connection that could never be broken. At ten moons old, Kestrelthorn became friends with Ripplepaw, a new apprentice who’d been assigned to his mother. Their friendship strengthened rapidly and it wasn’t long before crushes developed. Ripplepaw, while trying to prove himself to his clan by participating in the war for the Mooncave, lost his life. The support of his family is what got Kestrelthorn through the worst of the mourning period. During their eleventh moon, his brother was severely wounded by a lynx and Kestrelthorn chose to delay his warrior ceremony until he could graduate alongside his littermate. He rarely left his brother’s side during his lengthy recovery and they received their names together when they were thirteen moons old. Even after he left the medicine cat den, Owlheart was still healing and Kestrelthorn never failed to support him. |

He always had a very powerful bond with his brother, a connection that could never be broken. During his eleventh moon, Owlheart was severely wounded by a lynx during a border patrol. His brother chose to delay his own warrior ceremony so they could be named together, but it would be two moons before that happened. His kin rarely left his side while he fought for his life and he’d never forget the love they showed him while he recovered. Unfortunately for Owlheart, recovery took moons and he’d never be who he was before the attack. His injury left him with a scar across his throat and lots of emotional trauma. His voice is always hoarse and he has difficulty breathing after only a short period of physical activity. Owlheart’s worked hard to get to a point where he can speak clearly and walk across camp without losing his breath. |
