general
Whitewater is only for members 18 years old and up. Our content is rated PG-13, but we want to keep this a comfortable community for our adult members.
We are LGBTQ+ friendly. Any form of discrimination, hostility, or negativity toward LGBTQ+ people, characters, and themes is not permitted. This same rule applies to all minority communities. Breaking this rule will result in an automatic ban
We ask that all members treat each other with respect, both in and out of roleplay. If you experience any issues with another member, please reach out to staff.
Please join our Discord to participate in OOC chatting. This is not required, but will be the best way to connect with the community and stay up-to-date on plotting and changes.
We provide all posting templates for functionality and aesthetic. All templates can be found here, along with guidelines on how to install them for quick use. Please do not use outside templates for roleplay. Optional templates for wanted ads, trackers, plotters, and hubs can be found in their respective boards.
discord
Whitewater's forum rules also apply to our Discord server. All public chatting must abide by our rules.
Serious conversations about issues, especially those about other members, should be held privately with staff.
We have provided multiple entertainment channels for popular topics. If you find yourself talking at length about a specific topic, then please consider taking your chat to the corresponding channel. Staff may also direct you to a channel if the General chat is getting clogged up. We are always open to suggestions for channels!
Discord should be where all out of character chatting happens. Our forum does not have any boards for chatting.
There is no requirement to be active on Discord. If you prefer to lurk and just want to use the Discord for plotting and post pings, then that is okay!
in-character
Roleplay posts should be written with proper grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation. Character applications and OOC posts can be stylized with lowercase writing.
Whitewater does not have a required word count, but we expect posts to be at least one paragraph. Roleplay is about storytelling, so be sure to give your roleplay partners enough to reply to.
Treat your fellow roleplayers and their characters with respect. No powerplaying or godmodding unless given explicit permission by staff or a character's player.
If your post includes any heavy topics that go beyond the expected scope of Warriors, you must include a trigger warning.
Cats cannot have powers beyond that of a leader's nine lives or connection to StarClan unless approved by staff. We do not permit unnatural colors or markings. Jewelry is not permitted, with the exception of collars for kittypets.
Sexual content is not allowed. Gore and violence is permitted, but should not be overly graphic to prevent any members from becoming uncomfortable. Explicit language is permitted, but should not be overused.
When a character speaks, please bold dialogue and italicize thoughts. This will be especially helpful in longer posts.
Liquid time is allowed. Your characters can be in multiple threads at once, with the exception of threads that are occurring at the same time. This will generally only apply to event or plot threads.
When a thread is complete, please include 'Complete' in the title. Staff will archive completed and inactive threads periodically. Threads may be archived if a participating member leaves or falls inactive.
To differentiate character posts, we use a post-specific avatar plugin. When posting, you should input the url of your character's 200x300 avatar into the 'Post Avatar' line below the Subject line.
For all rules and guidelines regarding character creation, please see our character guidelines.
activity & timekeeping
Whitewater does not have a posting requirement for regular members, as we understand activity levels look different for everyone. We will hold monthly activity checks to allow members to archive characters and also remove inactive members.
Characters on Whitewater will typically be aged one moon every real-life month. There may be exceptions to this based on activity, but this will be infrequent to prevent time from falling stagnant.
Characters will be aged by their players during our monthly activity checks. Please do not adjust your character's age until told to do so by staff.
High rank characters, being more essential to the roleplay, will be held to a higher activity expectation. We would like to see at least one post for each council member per month. If activity slows for an extended period for the council character, staff may ask for the position to be relinquished.
Real life always comes first. If you find yourself entering a busy period, please let a member of staff know or post in the #absences channel in Discord.
If you have not posted in one month without reaching out to staff, you may be removed from the site and Discord during our monthly housekeeping. Staff will make multiple attempts to contact established members before removing. Members may rejoin after being removed, but there may be limits on the number and positions of characters you can play.
Upon joining, you agree that staff will make decisions on the outcomes of your characters in the event you fall inactive without informing staff of your absence. This may mean your characters going up for adoption, becoming NPCs, or dying in-character. This is to prevent plots from being held up or changed by the disappearance of established characters.
