All the talk of responsibilities and chores and training really meant nothing to Berrypaw. They had far bigger plans for their newfound freedom than being a productive member of society. Boring! No, they needed mischief and mayhem to have a good time. But even more than that they needed a place to sleep and a tour of the territory from a friend, not a mentor. And one cat could help with both! Avenspaw. She looked out across the camp, searching for that orange coat. There were a lot of orange cats, but there was only one Avenspaw. Once she spotted him she rushed over, slipping past other cats under their paws or stomachs if she had to, all to make it to his side. " Hey! You better have saved me a spot next to your nest." Despite the slightly threatening words her tone was bubbly with excitement and endearment. " And since your dad stopped us from seeing the river that one time you gotta show it to me now. It's only fair. And you gotta show me all the fun spots on the way there too." Gah there was so much to do! The new apprentice was buzzing with excitement and energy, eagerly awaiting the chance to finally see the rest of the world.

#s://i~ibb~co/mzh3VmR/avenskitava2~png Avenspaw writhed with excitement, trying his best to be patient as the ceremony concluded and Mushroomstar dismissed the clan. The young tom was one of the first to lead the chant. “Berrypaw! Thymegaze! Berrypaw! Thymegaze!” He was sad to see Thymegaze leave. Since Morninglight took over Thymegaze’s training, Avenspaw had gotten to sit in on some “advanced” learning. Sometimes he had even gotten to participate! But most times he was sidelined to watching only, especially when it came to combat practice. Though that didn't stop him from practicing the stances Morninglight was demonstrating. He liked Thymegaze, he was one of the only older apprentices that gave him the time of day. But Thymegaze was a warrior now. His brief sadness was quickly replaced again with excitement as the prospect of Berrypaw joining him in the apprentice den flooded back in. He had made some friends as an apprentice, but mostly just in his ‘cousins’, too many saw him as Mushroomstar’s son - still, even after he was apprenticed! But Berrypaw was different. They didn't care about that. Avenspaw watched as the black puff that was his friend darted back into the crowd, he had lost her then, but quickly found their trail again as he watched all the other cats jostle and move as an unseen something rammed through the crowd in his direction. He was seated next to Bloompaw, but as the hidden force came closer, the rosetted tom left his adoptive cousin to fend for himself with a snicker. “Of course I did!” he said confidently when Berrypaw appeared, even if the truth was that he hadn't thought that far ahead. His first night in the apprentice den, he had been so tired he just collapsed into the mass of cats, forgetting to make a nest altogether. He'd learned since then, especially where to get the best mosses - and he made a note to stop there on their tour before they came back. Before Berrypaw was forced to use him as a nesting spot. “Let’s go! We got a lot of ground to cover. Don't know if your tiny legs can keep up.” He grinned mischievously before crouching his body into a runner’s stance towards the camp entrance.
