frozen valley event [kingdom]
It is colder up in the mountains than it is down in the valley, but the frosty temperatures are tentatively starting to rise towards warmer weather. It’s not nearly as crisp as it was a moon ago, but the mountains do take longer to warm up than the valley does. The snow lingers, too, though only a thin layer remains on the ground and some spots have no snow at all. Despite these promises of the upcoming new-leaf season, winter isn't ready to release its grasp just yet. When the Riverwalkers wake up in the morning after a very cold night, they discover the lake is completely frozen over. Deciding to take advantage of the opportunity to connect after a rough leaf-bare, messengers are sent to the Nightwalker and Skywalker camps with news of a frozen lake and the chance to strengthen the bonds between factions. Cats from all three branches conjoin at the lake for a day of fun and games! Some brave souls, or perhaps foolish would be the better word, dare each other to see who can make it closest to the center of the lake while more cautious cats tend to stick near the edges. Have fun!

#s://i~ibb~co/s2gdqjC/sanguine~jpg "I think I am making a mistake."The words slipped out in present test as Sanguine studied the ice under his paws, but he knew the mistake had already been made. After walking so far across the lake, he now stood nearly in the center. The ice was sturdy under his weight but his paws were freezing. The slight moisture caused by his body heat caused them to stick uncomfortably to the icy surface, to the point where they stung each time he tried to lift them. At this rate, he was going to leave his poor paws raw. He needed to turn back. But it'd been such a treat, seeing the lake iced over. It was the perfect opportunity for members of the Kingdom to socialize and organize a day of fun - and what was more fun than being reckless? Except, now he was stuck, with the noon sun threatening to thaw out the ice under his feet. Fear did not bother him. Truly, Sanguine knew he could run back to the shore well before the ice melted or cracked. It was just the thought of sore paws that kept him moving slowly. That, and the thought of making his own sort of fun. "Oh, whatever am I to do?" He called to the closest group of cats that had wandered onto the lake. None so far as him. Cowards. "Perhaps some brave and strong cat will come escort me back to shore?"

#s://i~ibb~co/9TTmd2L/honeythornava~png He had been quite surprised when Laurelfern approached him about being the Riverwalkers leader. He hadn't gone into this looking to lead, but the cream molly's reassurance in his capabilities was comforting. He wanted to stay the winter with the Skywalkers, mostly to stay close to Laurelfern - close to his kits, even in Ridgeclan as they were. But leadership took him eastward to found the Riverwalker’s camp. Honeythorn was familiar with the river that split the valley, but less so with the lake that fed her. But water was water, and fairly predictable - more so in its capabilities than its actions. From the difference of erosion on the mountain face, he could tell the lake would flood in the wetter seasons, and as new-leaf came he had made the rounds to warn the cats nesting in the water’s path to move their dens higher up, but leaf-bare wasn't done with them quite yet. The bitter cold night made him even lonelier, despite the abundance of new faces joining. But in testing the frozen lake in the morning, he saw opportunity, and messengers followed to Cherry and Laurelfern’s camps. Plenty of cats took him up on the opportunity, even daring each other to make their way closest to the lake’s center. Years of guardian training had his eyes train on different groups of cats at once, just to make sure nothing was amiss. The ice seemed solid enough, though he himself hadn't scouted the center. And even then the sun at its highest point in the sky lasered in upon it. But one lone black tom seemed to take the bet in earnest. While he didn't seem in distress, he did call out to the group of cats Honeythorn was checking in on, trying to summon himself an escort. At the tom's open ended request, Honeythorn trotted smoothly across the ice, the long fur in-between webbed toes and pads giving him a certain level of warmth against the unforgiving ice. “Brave and strong, huh? I've been called one of those once upon a time,” he jested back in the same merrymaking tone the stranger started with.

#s://i~ibb~co/s2gdqjC/sanguine~jpg The handsome tom with fur touched by the sun who approached him was the exact sort of cat Sanguine was hoping for when he started goofing off, in that he was both good looking and important. Honeythorn. The two hadn't spoken directly yet, but he knew of the Riverwalker leader through Cherry and some other Kingdom cats. Sanguine let his eyes drop to Honeythorn's paws, watching the way he moved easily across the ice with a little envy. There wasn't much he missed about his nomadic home, but the coast they chose to wander was something he thought of fondly. The land they traversed was much warmer than these mountains. It snowed, certainly, but nothing like this. Nothing that froze lakes. "Brave and strong, huh? I've been called one of those once upon a time.""Only one?" He said as Honeythorn came closer. "To me, you are looking like both. Brave and strong and handsome, the best things a cat can be being." He smiled. "Thank you for dashing to my rescue. Honeythorn, is it? I am Sanguine. I live with Cherry in the damp caves." He shivered. "A silly mistake I am making there!"
