Troutpaw had felt uncharacteristically anxious throughout the majority of his apprenticehood, although he veiled it by keeping up his regular antics: pranks, rough-housing, and getting messy as per usual, yet this didn't make his fears non-existent. In his eyes, it was vital that he remained his usual self, after all, Ridgeclanners were strong and tough cats, and he couldn't let himself and his clan down by letting it slip that he was somewhat losing this thanks to his newfound fear of being found lifeless in a ditch after finding out the truth about his mentor, Firetongue. He shook his head viciously, twigs and mud flying from his tangled pelt, taking some of his worries with them as they landed on the ground with soft thuds. As long as he didn't think about it too much, he'd be fine, right? Surely as long as he didn't find himself getting on his mentor's nerves too often, he'd be okay? With a large full body stretch and deep sigh, Troutpaw decided it was time to let loose while he wasn't training with no chores to do, and crouched down lowly, his soft belly hovering just above the ground as he crawled towards the clearing where several of his clanmates were basking in the shining sun, a rare luxury during leaf-bare. Lips slowly curling into a devious smirk, Troutpaw sneakily made his way towards the nearest feline sat alone, grooming one paw, attempting to remain as quiet as possible although his footsteps crunched in the frost-ridden grass. Sneak 'attacks' were never the easiest in leaf-bare, but the difficulties were no match for Troutpaw's desire to make his fellow clanmates jump in shock.

#s://i~ibb~co/TW2rDQP/shadowgaze~jpg Between often gray skies and skin-prickling temperatures, leaf-bare rarely allowed for something so wonderful as sunbathing, especially for Shadowgaze, whose thin, short fur left him much colder than his clanmates. Unless he was working, he much preferred to tuck himself away in a den, cozying up with any other cat who wanted to escape the chill. So when a rare sunny day came along, much like this one, Shadowgaze was one of the first to claim a spot in the camp clearing, letting the sunlight redden his fur and warm his bones. Except, today was different. Today, he'd been pulled in a million directions after returning from his morning patrol. First, Toadfeather wanted to check in about Leopardpaw, something Shadowgaze felt embarrassingly unprepared for, but managed to play off as being distracted. Then, Weaselsong wanted his opinion on something unkind he'd accidentally said to Foxflight, which Shadowgaze had to help him navigate. And then his attention had been pulled to the nursery, where a kit had accidentally knocked away some of the protective bramble, and someone needed to patch it up before the chill returned. It was only good luck - something he wanted more of - that meant the sun was still hot and shining when he finally could make it to the clearing. Exhausted from his unplanned chores, Shadowgaze opted to sit away from some of the other warriors, wanting a little peace and quiet before his evening patrol would begin. The sun was delightful against his flank, each strand of dark fur absorbing every bit of heat the day had to offer. He closed his eyes in bliss, only to open them a moment later, curious about the sound of small paws on frozen grass. "Troutpaw?" The apprentice was coming toward him, looking characteristically mischievous. Shadowgaze sighed. "What game is this?"
