Baldur's Gate 3 is a CRPG based on Dungeons & Dragons which follows the story of a mismatched group of adventurers working together to save the world from a mind-devouring god and the cult that worships it. Obviously, this is a little tricky to blend with Whitewater's plot/setting. Rather than these characters being perfect one-to-one matches for their Baldur's Gate characters, please view this ad as inspiration for characters loosely based off their BG3 counterparts!
Each description below has a note about the BG3 character, followed by some suggestions for how to translate the character into Whitewater's setting. These are suggestions - if you have a different idea for how to bring a BG3 character into Whitewater, go with that instead! Below is a list of all the flexible aspects for these characters.
Personality and history flexibility is going to change by character. All characters should be recognizably based off their BG3 counterparts, but matching their personalities/histories 100% isn't necessary (or probably possible, haha).
As these characters are scattered across the forest, it's possible they will never interact. I'd like this to be viewed less as a wanted ad for a group of characters that know each other, and more just as inspiration for cats that can exist in the forest. Please plot with these characters in any way you'd like, including having them meet at gatherings, along borders, in places they shouldn't be, etc.
These characters are all open to existing cats who happen to fit the roles. Some of these characters fit into my other wanted ads, so I've put suggestions in their blurbs to double dip into other roles.
NOTE: These descriptions may contain minor BG3 spoilers, specifically related to character arcs. Please proceed at your own risk!

These are suggestions - if you have a different idea for how to bring a BG3 character into Whitewater, go with that instead! Below is a list of all the flexible aspects for these characters.
- Names. Unless otherwise specified, these characters can have any name.
- Ages. None of these character have specific ages, but some might have general suggestions.
- Genders. Aylin and Isobel are the only two cats with required genders. For everyone else, play them as whatever gender you'd like.
- Appearances. Some of these characters have suggested appearances. Feel free to do what makes sense to you.
- Role/rank. Some characters, like Gale, are not flexible in their role/rank. Other characters have plenty of options to choose from.

main party
LAE'ZEL | open Lae'zel grew up in a culture or family that highly valued aggression, violence, and/or fighting skills. She was trained to be a ruthless fighter, and has a rough, arrogant, and direct personality to match. Once you get past her outer layer, you can see Lae'zel is curious, loyal, and honest - a true friend, so long as she's on your side. The Lae'zel character should have recently either left the home/family she was raised in after learning they weren't what she thought, or is in the process of learning it. For example, maybe she's a RidgeClan warrior who's finally seen through the cracks in her clan left behind by Wolfstar, and now she's considering joining the Kingdom. Some suggested suffixes are -storm, -claw, -strike, -screech, and -talon. |
SHADOWHEART | open Shadowheart grew up deeply religious, raised in a temple to always follow the instruction of her goddess and the holy order that worships her. Before the events of the game, she was sent off on a mission to retrieve an artifact, and spends the game trying to protect that artifact. Though she is cold and reserved at first, Shadowheart possess deep loyalty, great faith, and the desire to always do the right thing. While the Shadowheart character was raised religiously, that religion does not have to be StarClan. Maybe her family finds worship in other ways - the mysterious fog of MistClan or the historic tunnels of PrairieClan, for example. As part of her arc, Shadowheart, like Lae'zel, should realize what she was raised to believe was either a lie or simply no longer suits her, and now she's searching for something new to devote herself to. Shadowheart's name must be Shadowheart. Because of that, she can either be in MistClan or PrairieClan, as Shadow- is already taken in RidgeClan. To match her prefix, she should be a predominantly black or very dark colored cat. If Shadow- as a prefix is taken in all three clans before this character is adopted, then her name will become flexible. |
ASTARION | reserved Astarion trusts no one, though he wouldn't let you know that. In everything he does, his goal is focused on one thing: survival. After survival comes comfort. Then comes companionship. Astarion in the game is on the run from his vampire sire, but seeks to gain enough strength and support to kill the man who ruined his life. The Astarion character is likely a non-clan cat who is newly arrived in the forest after fleeing a strange group of rogues/loners who participate in kit-stealing to populate their numbers. Astarion was likely a stolen kit himself. After many moons of planning, he finally broke away from the group, though worries he's being hunted down as a traitor. Consider making Astarion a white or pale colored cat. Pale- is the ideal prefix for him if you decide to make him a warrior. Extra bonus points if you call him Palefang. This cat could be a (new) friend of Summit's, attached to Summit's wanted ad. |
GALE | open Gale comes from an academic and religious background, being part of an order of wizards that worship the goddess of magic. While he was once a close companion of the goddess, he was expelled from her good graces after disobeying her orders. Overall, Gale is a curious cat with a good sense of humor and a deep passion for his craft, though this passion can make him a little arrogant and unapproachable. The Gale character must be a weaver in MistClan. He could come from a line of warriors and ended up splitting from his family's legacy by becoming a weaver, or maybe his family's always been weavers and he's recently had a personal falling out with them. His arc does not have to involve family. Whatever it is, Gale should recently have been abandoned by the cat(s) he loves/d most. Gale- is a fun prefix for this character, as are any similarly windy prefixes. Please consider also having this character fill a role in Rainshade's wanted ad. |
WYLL | Horus Wyll is from a high ranked family, but no amount of status could make him live up to his father, who forged a legacy after coming from a working class background. Determined to make a name for himself, Wyll set off as an adventurer, roaming the coast and offering his help to anyone who needed it. Wyll is courageous and charismatic, but can be boastful and is often too focused on one thing to see the larger picture. The Wyll character should be trying to build a legacy of his own, outside his father's (or mentor's, or any family member's). In the process of doing that, he accidentally partners with someone who isn't good for him. Maybe he's an older cat who allied with Wolfstar during Wolfstar's war and is now trying to make amends for his violence. Or maybe he's a younger cat being swept up in the more reclusive, xenophobic beliefs of some MistClanners. He could even be from outside a clan, such as one of Foxglove's anti-clan rogues, and is slowly realizing the cats he's allied with are more violent than he wants to be. If a clan cat, please consider having Wyll's suffix be -heart. Bonus points if you can tangle Wyll's story in with Karlach's. |
KARLACH | reserved Karlach is a spitfire of a character, recently escaped from fighting a seemingly endless war in Hell. She's cursed with an arcane engine in her chest - if it goes out, she dies. Her story focuses on helping justice prevail and seeking a cure for her fiery malady, in hopes she gets a second chance at life. Karlach is friendly and sometimes goofy, with a heart of gold and a strong sense of right and wrong. She can also be naive and easily provoked, making her quick to fight or lash out. The Karlach character should have recently survived an injury or illness that no one expected her to live through. With a new lease on life, her character arc is very flexible! Perhaps she'll seek revenge on the cat that hurt her, or maybe she'll seek justice for someone she once lost. She could be a former PrairieClan tunneler thought to have died in a tunnel collapse, only to return to camp with a new outlook on the tunnels. If a clan cat, please consider having Karlach's suffix be -fire. Bonus points if you can tangle Karlach's story in with Wyll's. |
secondary party
HALSIN | Summit Halsin is the archdruid of a grove and a profound healer. Because of his deep ties to nature and healing, he seeks to heal the earth of a strange, shadowy infestation later in the game before joining the party properly. Kind and patient, Halsin is a beloved leader, though can sometimes get wrapped up in his own business and doesn't always consider how it affects those who rely on him. The Halsin character must be a healer of some kind. He can be from any group of cats in the forest, so long as there is a long tradition of healing, herbal knowledge, and respect for nature present. Appearance-wise, Halsin should be a big cat, and his name should be related to bears. |
JAHEIRA | open Jaheira is one of the leaders of an organization that seeks to keep balance in the world of Baldur's Gate. Though raised in druidic tradition, Jaheira is more inclined to violence and battle to navigate her conflicts. She's opinionated and straightforward, and doesn't like anything or anyone she perceives as passive or refusing to pick a side. The Jaheira character should have a history of fighting for the underdog. The best fit for her would be a warrior in RidgeClan from the hawk hunting tradition who staunchly opposed Wolfstar even when it was unpopular to do so. She should have a close relationship with Minsc. This character would be a great fit to also play Brindlehawk from Summit's wanted ad. |
MINSC | open Minsc comes from a culture where warriors are often paired with powerful witches as bodyguards, spending the rest of their lives protecting them. He travels with Jaheira and though they are separated when you first meet them, they eventually reunite. Minsc isn't the brightest bulb - he's a bit of a himbo, determined to do good but easily manipulated into doing other people's biddings. The Minsc character should be a guardian in RidgeClan, often paired with the Jaheira character. The two of them should have a close relationship. Minsc should be known for his brawn and good nature, though not at all for his intelligence or wit. |
AYLIN | reserved BIG SPOILERS FOR ACT 2 AND THE NIGHTSONG QUEST AHEAD. Aylin was born to the goddess Selûne and acted as her emissary on earth. There, she fell in love with Isobel, to the distrust of Isobel's father. After Isobel's mysterious death, Aylin was locked away and used as a source of power to keep Isobel's father immortal. If you free her, Aylin is reunited with a resurrected Isobel and joins the party. She proves herself to be loyal, strong-willed, and resilient, though easily swept up in her vengeful nature. The Aylin character must be named Nightsong, and thus should be a warrior in any clan. She must also be a she-cat attracted to other she-cats. She should have been separated from the Isobel character for dramatic reasons (likely involving Isobel's father or father-figure) and believe her to be dead. |
ISOBEL | open BIG SPOILERS FOR ACT 2 AND THE NIGHTSONG QUEST AHEAD. Isobel was raised as a cleric to Selûne, where she met and fell in love with Aylin. She died mysteriously, then was revived decades later by her father, who claimed Aylin had also died. Suspecting her father's deceit, Isobel began to rally against him, and joins the party in taking him down. The Isobel character should be a deeply religious character, whatever that religion may look like. She must be a she-cat attracted to other she-cats. Likely, Isobel was a clan cat assumed to have died, though really her disappearance was a result of her father (or father figure). |
tertiary party
ZEVLOR | Cherry Zevlor is the leader of a group of tiefling refugees from a city plunged into Hell. His only goal is to protect the refugees, ideally by bringing them to Baldur's Gate for a better life. He is stubborn and hesitant to trust new people, but warms up easily once you've proven yourself. The Zevlor character should be in a position of power, likely as a leader, deputy, or senior warrior. He could also be some sort of leader outside of the clans, such as a Kingdom leader. Bonus points if you can make it so he moved from one position of power to another for reasons outside of his control, such as a senior warrior turned reluctant deputy. Because this character would do best in a leadership position, it may be a while until the role is filled. |
ALFIRA | open Alfira is a young bard just beginning her life as an adventurer after escaping danger in her home town. She's cheerful, open-minded, and bubbly, though naive and doubtful of her own abilities. When you meet her, she's recently lost a mentor figure. The Alfira character should be an apprentice who just lost her mentor and is struggling with her new one. She should want to be a sweet, caring cat, even in an environment that tries to make her unkind. Bonus points if, as a warrior, she takes the suffix -song. |
VOLO | Curlycloud Volo is a strange, wandering storyteller who collects tales of great quests and dangerous beasts. He travels around telling these tales, embellishing them more and more each time, and often taking credit for things he didn't do. He's sociable and extroverted, but really doesn't understand boundaries, and has no problems lying. The Volo character should be an elder who gets more and more outlandish with age or a wandering loner who brings stories from afar. |
WITHERS | open Withers is a living corpse who the party discovers early in the game. His role is to hang out in the camp and offer resurrection services for a fee. It is heavily implied that Withers is the god of death, or at least an avatar of the god, bound to serve mortals after betraying another god. The Withers character should be a cryptic but beloved elder or senior warrior. He's a little difficult to understand and often speaks in thought-provoking questions rather than normal sentences. Despite his oddities, he's a valued member of the clan, with many moons still left in him. |
SCRATCH | reserved Scratch is a dog companion the party can rescue early in the game. He spends the game searching for small items to deliver to the player. Notably, Scratch befriends a young owlbear cub the party can rescue. The Scratch character should be a kit or apprentice that many characters help raise, either in a direct parental role or as a role model/mentor. He should be a little spunky and very curious. Likely, Scratch's best friend is a strange choice - either a cat from another clan, a cat outside the clans, or a cat in his clan no one seems to like/trust. |
