When Snailpaw awoke, there was an odd crispness to the air. Usually the apprentice's den stayed pretty warm all night, what with the small space and sleeping bodies of the cats huddled together. But this morning... felt different. She turned her head in the direction of the den entrance, wondering if Turtlewhisker had woken her up, but didn't see anyone. In fact, though their fuzzy vision they didn't see anything. No blue of the sky. Just... white? Sometimes the sky is white and cloudy... let me check. They got up and stretched, a yawn parting their jaws, and then made their way to the den mouth to get a better look. She almost walked straight into a great big wall of snow. Feeling with their whiskers, it was solid all the way from the top to the bottom. Solid snow. The reason they hadn't seen the sky... was because it had snowed up to her ears. This meant... their plan, it was ready.
"BOOOOG!" she whisper-yowled, dashing over to her bicolor friend's side and shaking her vigorously. "WAKEUPWAKEUPWAKEUP LOOK AT THE SNOW!" They pointed wildly with a paw at the den entrance before Buglepaw's eyes had even opened. It didn't occur to her that she hadn't quite contained her excitement, and her meowl had made one of the older apprentices shoot her a stink eye. She headbutted her friend's side, paws excitedly kneading the moss of their nests. When Buglepaw finally moved (that meant she was awake, right?) Snailpaw sat back with a wagging tail. They'd woken nearly every morning in hopes it had snowed enough to dig tunnels. And today, it did! "Boog...... it's time. For The Plan."

#s://i~ibb~co/25x9GVP/buglestep-avvie~jpg Buglepaw Buglepaw lay in her nest, paws tucked delicately over her nose to shield her face from the bitter cold that was drifting in from the outside. She was chasing a fluffy white rabbit through the snow, her prey so tantalizingly close and yet with every stride, she seemed to get no closer to securing her catch. That was the funny thing about dreams, they never seemed to make any sense - she was a tunneler, why would she be chasing after a rabbit when that was a warriors job? Snailpaw's voice cut through her dreamscape like a claw, shattering that perfect image of the bunny running through the snow... Her eyes screwed tightly shut, she pulled her paws up higher to cover her eyes as her best friend began to shake her. "Snaaaailpaw" she groaned, keeping her eyes shut and reaching to bat the eager tortoiseshell away. "The sky isn't even awake yet" honestly, sometimes she worried where the she-cat got her energy from, she could at least wait until the mentors called for them. Curling up with more determination in her nest, there was one word that bounced around in her brain, that had almost been lost among the rabble of Snailpaw's enthusiastic ramble. Snow... The tuxedo molly lifted her head so fast that she felt dizzy, her eyes struggling to focus after being closed for too long, until she finally saw the entrance to their den blocked by white wall, blocking out everything that lay beyond. "HOLY CRAP! LOOK AT ALL THAT SNOW!!" She yowled, much louder than Snailpaw, apparently forgetting that many of her denmates were still attempting to sleep around her. Jumping to her paws, she mimicked Snailpaw's excitable bounces and quickly approached the dens entrance. The plan. It was time for the plan. Snailpaw's plan. The plan for Snailpaw. That plan. "Are you ready? How do your paws look?" she asked, peering at her friends dainty paws- that was fine, small paws could still be great at tunneling! She was pretty small too, it just meant they had to be extra great!
