 | BRAMBLESONG [ OPEN ] Bramblesong is Salamanderpaw and Newtpaw’s father at 31 moons old. He and Lichenfur probably had crushes on each other as apprentices and became mates not long after earning their warrior names. They were deeply in love and did plan on having children in the distant future, but certainly not as soon as they did. When Lichenfur told Bramblesong she was expecting, he was shocked, but delighted. He didn’t understand why Lichenfur didn’t seem at all happy about becoming a mother, but he did his best to support her anyway. She grew distant and restrained the further she got into her pregnancy. When Salamanderkit and Newtkit were born, Bramblesong was not oblivious to the angry expression on Lichenfur’s face whenever she looked at her sons and he hated that she spoke poorly of them. They often argued about the way she treated their kits and he became so furious with her that he had a hard time even looking at her. When she returned to her warrior duties, Bramblesong put a pause on his own warrior duties and moved into the nursery to look after Salamanderkit and Newtkit. Shortly after switching dens, he and Lichenfur agreed they didn’t love each other anymore and should avoid one another. Bramblesong was heartbroken, but he managed to be a wonderful father to his children while also grieving his relationship with Lichenfur. She was no longer the cat he’d fallen in love with, but oh, how he missed who she used to be. Bramblesong was incredibly grateful for Salamanderkit and Newtkit, who kept him busy enough to distract him from his sadness. |
 | NEWTPAW [ OPEN ] Newtpaw is Salamanderpaw’s brother at 11 moons old. At a young age, Newtkit realized his mother, Lichenfur, had never really loved or wanted him and Salamanderkit. It pained him, of course, but he and his brother frequently talked through their feelings about it and he confided in his father often. Newtkit was a quiet and mature kit, but he cared a lot for his clanmates, particularly his kin. His brother and father were his best friends, the only cats he could trust completely and who loved him unconditionally. At four moons old, Newtkit accompanied Salamanderkit on a trip outside of camp. Salamanderkit claimed they’d be apprenticed early if they caught something, but Newtkit had really only tagged along to keep an eye on his brother. He tried to stop Salamanderkit from climbing a tree, but his efforts were futile. When Salamanderkit fell and broke his leg, Newtkit comforted him until help came. Somehow, he managed to remain calm, despite how scary the situation was. His brother’s fall was traumatizing for Newtkit, even though Salamanderkit didn’t seem bothered by it, but he did complain a lot about how boring recovery was. Newtkit rarely left Salamanderkit’s side after, afraid he’d get hurt again. When they were apprenticed together, he began to worry even more about his littermate. Salamanderpaw seemed so determined to become someone memorable, no matter how he got there, and Newtpaw feared the worst could happen in his journey for greatness. |
