pick me up with golden hand
Elkpaw is a young apprentice of MistClan with lofty aspirations. He's deeply loyal to MistClan and longs for the day he can assume some sort of leadership role for the clan he loves with all his heart. Currently, his attention is focused on Irisfrost's missing kits, and what he can do to bring them home. Below are a handful of cats/roles from his bio that I'd love to see picked up!
Please review Elkpaw's bio if you have any interest in these roles.
Please review Elkpaw's bio if you have any interest in these roles.
ONCE-MOTHER | open! You were young when you fell in love with Pinestripe. Pinepaw, really, both of you barely old enough to stumble away from your mothers and into the apprentice den. You stayed up late to spend more time with him, the two of you swapping words of love too mighty for cats of your age to understand. They called you foolish. But who were they to judge? You were in love. You're young when you find yourself with Pinestripe's kits, young enough that the two of you slip sometimes and call each other paw. You're still young when your kits are born and you are young when they die, taken away from you like Pinestripe was. The river washes your mate away and liquid chokes your kits' lungs and you grow to fear water and rain because of it. The other queens tell you one child lives. You see him, sometimes, but you know he's just the ghost of your lost love. Gingerfur is Elkpaw's (biological) mother. She was young when she had Elkpaw (younger than 20 moons), so she'd be no older than 29 moons now. She lost her mate, Pinestripe, on the day of Elkpaw's birth, as well as two additional kits. So lost in grief, Gingerfur ended up locking herself away and has only just begun to come out of her mourning. Logically, she knows her son lives, but struggles to connect with him after all the death she experienced. I'd love for these two to have a slowburn reconnection as mother and son! This character's name, appearance, and personality are up to the adopter! Backstory details other than what's outlined in Elkpaw's bio are up to you, too. She should not be a brown tabby. |
WISHED-MOTHER | ryewhisker You watched that poor child be rejected by his mother. Called a ghost. A corpse. Pushed away when all he wanted was the love every kit is born deserving. It infuriated you. Your pelt itched to take the kit away from his love-less beginnings and bring him to your side instead, but you could never provide what Gingerfur was supposed to. You couldn't feed him. You couldn't stay in the nursery with him. You couldn't love him, not the way you wanted. You could name him, though. And you did: Elk-kit, for his fur, his height, his nobility, obvious even at this newborn age. This kit was bound for greatness, and you were determined to see him there. This cat, for reasons up to the adopter, developed a fierce parental connection to Elkpaw early in his life. They were ultimately the one to name him, after Gingerfur refused. The details of this cat are completely up to you - they can be any gender, age, rank, etc. The only restriction is, at the time of Elkpaw's birth, they couldn't step in as a foster mother for whatever reason. "Mother" is used generically here. This cat could be any sort of parent, no specific gender required. Ideally, this role is given to an already existing character! But of course I wouldn't say no to a new cat being made for this, haha. Most likely, this character has a nasty opinion on Gingerfur. |
WATERLOGGED | birchpaw You were young when you almost died. The river called you. (It still calls you, if you're being honest.) But that day, the river called you and you answered and the rocks under your feet rolled away as you fell under. Then, you rose above it. Pine filled your senses as the warrior pulled you from the river, tossing you back onto the bank to safety. As you coughed up water, paws scrambling to find your footing, you watched as the warrior fell under. The river called. You answered. But you were taken from the river, so the river chose someone else. This character is the apprentice that Pinestripe died rescuing eight moons ago. The details of this character are completely open to the adopter. They're somewhere between 15-23 moons now, so either an older apprentice or young warrior. Elkpaw doesn't hold any blame against this character. He barely knows their involvement in Pinestripe's death. However, this character should think that Elkpaw hates them, and that misbelief should color their interactions now that Elkpaw is out of the nursery. |
FELLOW GHOST | open! You came into the world knowing grief. Your mother died in labor, or your siblings died after you, or your father abandoned you when he saw you, or maybe you never had a mother or father or siblings at all. Does it matter? What matters is you were born knowing grief and grief has never left you since. Elkpaw is like you. He was born knowing grief. You share a bond with him because of it - a bond no one else understands, not unless they were born into grief, too. But as Elkpaw gets older, he finds comfort outside of that grief, and starts to pull away from it. You don't understand. You don't understand. Elkpaw was born into grief. He knows the damage it does. So why does he cause more grief as he pulls away? This character is not featured in Elkpaw's bio. Like Elkpaw, their birth was marked by death. The exact details are up to the adopter, as are the details for this cat's name, gender, personality etc. This cat should be around Elkpaw's age - no younger than 7 moons, no older than 12 moons. When they were young, this cat and Elkpaw bonded closely over their shared trauma. This cat isn't ready to grow out of it. They still cling to the things that hurt them, while Elkpaw slowly heals from his own hurt. The ultimate goal is for these two is to reunite as friends and for this cat to start to heal from their past as well! But, before that happens, this cat would try to "drag" Elkpaw back down with them. |
EARTHBOUND | salamanderpaw You are made for this world. Its sunlight guides your sight, its dirt cakes your paws, its wind inflates your lungs, and its water fills your veins. You are whole, and by the ancestors, you love to be alive. Elkpaw is not whole, but you see greatness in him anyway. Greatness like what you see in yourself. You think, together, you can be greater than any duo before. This character is not featured in Elkpaw's bio. Like Elkpaw, they have ambitions for the future - being a leader, a deputy, a medicine cat, even. And in Elkpaw they see the perfect cat to have by their side. This role is meant to serve as a foil to "Fellow Ghost." While the Ghost drags Elkpaw down, the Earthbound seeks to lift him up - but for their own selfish gain. The details of this cat are completely up to the adopter, except their age. This cat should be close to Elkpaw's age. No younger than 9 moons, no older than 14 moons. |
TRUSTED ONES | 1/3 open! This is a generic call for Elkpaw's closest friends! Elkpaw will grow into a popular warrior of MistClan, but his closest friends are cats that knew him well since he was young. Most likely, these cats are other apprentices at this time (or cats that were kits with him in the nursery), but it's totally possible for Elkpaw to form close bonds with warriors, elders, etc. 1. Leopardpaw 2. Eggpaw |
