SMOKETHORN | open Smokethorn is Quillfeather’s sister at 30 moons old. Even to strangers, it’s clear how much Smokethorn cares about her loved ones. She’s especially protective of her brother and nephews, and is, perhaps, a bit too altruistic when it comes to them. Her concern typically shows itself in the form of anger. Smokethorn is irascible, but also quick to apologize when she’s realized she’s the reason for hurt feelings. She also loves to have fun, particularly if she gets to drag someone off on an adventure with her. A thrill-seeking kit, Smokethorn was a lot to handle. She and Quillfeather were partners in crime, though she was always the one to actually commit the crime while he simply watched and then did his best to cover it up. A lot of warriors breathed a sigh of relief when she was assigned to Barkfang instead of one of them. She didn’t get along with her mentor in the beginning, but toward the end, they became close and under his training, Smokethorn learned some responsibility. After rescuing Quillfeather from an owl when they were apprentices, Smokethorn became incredibly protective of her littermate. She introduced him to Willowshine, hoping that if he had more friends, they’d protect him, too, because she couldn’t be by his side every second of every day. She was delighted when they became mates and even more ecstatic when they had kits. She played a very big role in the kits’ lives and was almost always in the nursery with them. Smokethorn busied herself with supporting Quillfeather and helping raise his kits after Willowshine’s death. Her main focus has been keeping her family happy and healthy, so it’s entirely possible that she hasn’t yet had the chance to grieve for her friend. |
The more mature of his father's two sons, Thymepaw is affable and easygoing, which makes him especially popular among older cats. However, he's also a bundle of anxiety who tends to let others walk all over him. He's a sensitive, thoughtful cat who can easily read just about anyone. He worries a lot for his father, who seems sad all the time, and his aunt, who buries her feelings, and his brother, who he fears is too adventurous. For an apprentice, Thymepaw carries a lot of weight on his shoulders. Thymepaw was not like most kits, who enjoyed playing and pestering older apprentices. Instead, he could usually be found listening to elders’ stories or dozing at his mother’s side. He was shy, particularly around cats his age, who he just couldn’t relate to. He probably felt an awful lot like an outcast, but luckily, his brother never failed to include him. Thymepaw was a victim of bullying, and maybe still is, but Burdockpaw was and always will be happy to defend him and then promptly reassure him after chasing the bullies away. He was raised by three cats - his mother, Willowshine, his father, Quillfeather, and his aunt, Smokethorn. Smokethorn had always been a part of his life, but began to play a bigger role after his mother died from a snake bite about a moon before he was to be apprenticed. Thymepaw was devastated when he heard about Willowshine’s death, but losing his mother brought him even closer to his father and aunt, who he has positive relationships with. |
BURDOCKPAW | open Burdockpaw is Quillfeather’s son at 12 moons old. He is also connected to [Shrikepaw]. The least mature of his father's two sons, Burdockpaw is lively and bold, which makes him especially popular among his peers. However, he has a temper and tends to make decisions without even considering the consequences. Like his aunt, he's protective of his loved ones, particularly his littermate, who he would do anything for. Burdockpaw seems to search for ways to get into trouble and is often on the receiving end of scoldings, but he’s just a young cat trying to enjoy life. Burdockpaw was a popular kit. He was fun and daring, and a lot of his denmates were drawn to him. He was the one to organize games, assign roles to his friends during those games, and pretty much just take the lead. Of course, he always included his brother, who struggled with socializing. Thymepaw was susceptible to bullying, but Burdockpaw would rush to protect his littermate and then comfort him after. He’s particularly close to his aunt, Smokethorn, who he shares a lot of personality traits with. During his time in the nursery, he also formed an odd relationship with a denmate, Shrikepaw, who he first met when he stopped her from bullying her adopted sister. He probably just wanted to prevent future bullying or maybe he saw the goodness in her heart, but Burdockpaw rarely left Shrikepaw’s side after that. She obviously didn’t like his company, but he stayed. Now, as apprentices, Shrikepaw fights her growing fondness of him and Burdockpaw continues to stay anyway. He was raised by three cats - his mother, Willowshine, his father, Quillfeather, and his aunt, Smokethorn. Smokethorn had always been a part of his life, but began to play a bigger role after his mother died from a snake bite about a moon before he was to be apprenticed. Burdockpaw was devastated when he heard about Willowshine’s death, but losing his mother brought him even closer to his father and aunt, who he has positive relationships with. |
