appearance
a brawny, bulky ginger-and-white she-cat with golden eyes
Built for strength and pure determination to power through any enemy she faces, Peregrinetalon is a strong adversary. Built for combat and atheletic ability to bring down large birds of prey, her muscles ripple along her form. Massive paws allow her to more easily grasp her prey or predator, allowing for more close combat opportunities than most cats are comfortable with. Scars are everywhere on her, each with their own stories, whether short-term or long-term. Notably, both of the tops of her ears are mangled and ripped, due to her number of moons within the mountains as a guardian.
She is a ginger-and-white tabby, adorning a pattern much like the rest of her siblings and family. Her golden eyes are large and usually furrowed, with an expression mixed with hatefulness and hostility to give her an intimidating and scary presence for most cats she comes in contact with.
description
tribe kit [0 - 7 moons]
Hiei and Asato were as thick as honey together, they did everything together. They were, by all means, the same cat. Nyadra liked to say that the Gods wanted to give her a challenge, so they gave her twins of the same personality. Likewise, Farosh, their father, agreed with the sentiment.
When they weren't traveling, Hiei was enthralled with the history and stories of their group. Listening to the elders and the storytellers was her favorite activity, when not pestering Asato. She wanted to be a storyteller too, once they had settled down and she was older. Farosh and Nyadra would also do their fair share of story telling.
"The memories of the tribe will always carry us forward," they used to say at the end of each history lesson, each enriching story about the ancestors of the traveling tribe. Words that stuck to her.
It was time to move to a new part of the area to establish a new camp for new resources. They were halfway through the journey as they crossed a large expansion of mountains, with a valley down below them for as far as they could see. They needed to cross the river in order to keep going and avoid the Twolegplace down below.
The cats of the tribe went one by one, as Hiei watched carefully for her turn. Asato went before her, and so did Farosh and Nyadra. Unknown to them, the last rock of a fast-moving river had pebbles that began to cause it to shift. It was not visible to the naked eye. As Hiei pounced to the stone, close to being in her family's grasp, the rock dramatically shifted, before giving way and plunging her into the river. A splash was soon after as she reemerged her head from the current. It was Farosh that had entered the river to save her, but numerous cats were trying to pull him back in. They knew both her and Farosh would die if he went after her.
After being dunked in the waves and trying to gasp for breath, with her lungs feeling as though they were being burned alive with all the water she had swallowed, she then felt weightless for a moment, as she saw herself plummeting down a waterfall. Expectantly, she prayed that she wouldn't feel anything when she hit the bottom.
But, all she felt next, after regaining consciousness, was the tongues of several cats trying to dry her off.
"How did she survive that fall?"
"Keep trying to dry her, she will get sick before we get to camp if not."
"We have to get her to camp now, there's no time for this! Help me, Sparrowpaw."
Again and again, she fell between consciousness and unconsciousness, each time having new flashes of unknown faces and unknown smells that could make her gag.
But, when she finally awoke for the last time, Hiei found herself in a den surrounded by the smell of herbs and cobwebs. Sootwhisker was the name of the cat that kept putting herbs in her mouth and bandaging her injuries. It was a miracle that she had even survived that fall, let alone escape it with minimal injury.
Hiei, having no where else to go, as it was unknown where her tribe would be now, decided to become a member of the clan, despite some backlash from some of the older members of the clan. Named for her golden hues, she was named Peregrinepaw at the age of 7 moons.
apprenticeship [7 moons to 14 moons]
After being accepted into the clan, she was given the mentor of Pollenheart. As their name showed, they were honorable, courageous, and had a sixth sense on figuring out if someone was committed to the clan or not. As such, since Dovestar really wanted to see if Peregrinepaw could be trusted, she was given to this trustworthy warrior. But, becoming a warrior was harder than she had imagined at first. It took her time to get used to the ways of the clan. Being a tribe, everything seemed so much similar, and she found herself trying to relate things about the clan to the tribe. While Pollenheart obliged and worked through Peregrinepaw's questions, the other apprentices that she was usually grouped with were impatient, snarky, made fun of the way that Peregrinepaw grew up.
Pollenheart tried desperately to try to help their apprentice, but a burning rage silently grew inside her.
One of the apprentices, Tidepaw, that she was sparring with started to call her all sorts of names, all condemning her heritage and origins with the tribe. Before Peregrinepaw had to think, the next thing she knew is that the apprentice was underneath of her, with her claws having raked across the apprentice's cheeks and ears. The mentors present pulled the two apart before Tidepaw could try to fight back (though, arguably, he was too shocked and frozen to have fought back at all).
Of course, Dovestar was furious and annoyed, though Pollenheart was able to negotiate a lighter punishment since Tidepaw obviously tried to get her to become angry in the first place.
Peregrinepaw was on nest duty for the elder's and apprentice's den for a moon, though still allowed to train. Pollenheart, though trying not to encourage the behaviors again, made sure that their apprentice knew that they were proud for them stepping up for themselves.
One day, while cleaning the apprentice's den, another apprentice offered to help her. Swanpaw. Swanpaw had a brother, Sparrowpaw, she believed. Swanpaw was much more lively and bubbly than the ginger she-cat, and it was just contagious for Peregrinepaw to have the same emotion. All Peregrine's jokes made the other apprentice laugh. She never got offended when Peregrinepaw would playfully make jokes about her clumsiness or persistent smile. Friendship bloomed for them, but Peregrine was worried about the other feelings that would pop up throughout the rest of their apprenticeship.
Swanpaw became Swanthroat before her, along with Sparrowclaw. Peregrinepaw took her training more serious than ever to catch up to her best friend.
guardianship [14 moons to present]
A full guardian of the clan at a relatively young age, Peregrinepaw was given the name Peregrinetalon, both for her efforts as a guardian and for her aggressive personality. However, the clan wasn't blind at how Swanthroat was able to tame the rage and anger within the ginger she-cat when they were around each other. Only a few nights after her warrior ceremony, Peregrinetalon and Swanthroat became official mates.
However, as the winter winds came into the valley, so did a bout of greencough. Swanthroat had caught it, and it quickly grew into whitecough. While Sootwhisker would not let family, friends, and Peregrinetalon inside the cave to be right next to her, Peregrinetalon watched her mate die slowly from the dreadful disease.
It sent the ginger tabby spiraling for several moons, as she went back and forth on who or what to blame for the death of her young lover.
However, encouragement from her mentor sent her to the Oracle at the time, Swiftcloud, for guidance. Since joining, she hadn't really committed to the entire "belief" of StarClan and the ancestors, as it wasn't how she was taught in the tribe. However, after much time speaking with Swiftcloud and learning as much as she could about it, the more interested and curious she became until she became a true believer in StarClan.
Life continued after that, though many still blamed Peregrine's angry nature on the death of her lover. Though, it was just her.
"You know, I don't blame you," she said as she saw Sparrowclaw's head turn toward her. They had been on a few patrols before that with no words spoke, just a tense aura around them both. Almost as if they were too scared to say anything to one another. "I don't think I ever truly did. But, anything could have caused Swanthroat to become sick and grow worse. If I have learned anything, we'll learn the answer one day in StarClan together." Peregrinetalon offered a smile toward the tom, as he gave a small nod in return.
The beginning of a many-season friendship.
Peregrinetalon was given an apprentice in Wingpaw. Total different personalities that worked well together. Guardianship training was in the apprentice's future, but when Wingpaw was taken on a patrol in the mountains with another group of guardians without Peregrinetalon, he never returned home after a hawk got him. Peregrinetalon blamed herself for the death of her apprentice... if only she had been there.
One night, as she was making a trip to the grave site of the fallen warriors for a quick prayer, she saw a cat sneaking along the border. Getting low, she sprung to attack the cat. Fur flew, until she had the cat's throat in her jaws. Peregrinetalon was desperate to rid the clan of the intruder until....
"HIEI! STOP!"
The words made her freeze as she looked to see who was really there under the moonlight. By the Stars, it was Jin. An tribe member around her age, who would play with her while Nyadra watched over them. The shock of seeing their tribe friend here made the graveyard feel unreal, an out of body experience. They chatted for so long, as Peregrinetalon learned about the outcome of her family... the birth of younger siblings, how Asato grew into a reputable member, and the destruction of her tribe and family in one night. Her heart tore in two, but seeing her long-lost friend was enough.
The two would meet regularly meet, with a romance definitely spawning between the two of them, as far as Peregrinetalon asking Jin to be her mate. However, tension soon came over them as soon as Jin asked Peregrinetalon to run away with her. Peregrinetalon explained her loyalty and devotion to the clan, but Jin wasn't interested either way. A loud and hateful argument broke out between the two, before Peregrinetalon promised her alliegance to RidgeClan and wished that Jin would just run away from the valley so they never had to see each other again.
When Peregrinetalon returned the next night, Jin was gone.
Sparrowclaw became different. Due to her aquaphobia, Peregrinetalon never took border patrols around the river or even made her way to Gatherings. But with each passing Gathering, Sparrowclaw would come back and act different. Then, when he would sneak off to the border, that's when it became suspicious. But, it wasn't her business she supposed...
Wolfstar's impact on Peregrinetalon was immense. A cause, a rally that she could support. It was StarClan's will after all, and ever since becoming who she was, she felt the superiority over the other clans. The battle was intense, as she found herself fighting for her life. But, once the retreat was called, she tried to argue with many of the senior warriors to stand the ground. Peregrinetalon, though, knew she would be outnumbered if she stayed. As she went to leave, Rabbitstep pulled her to go help retrieve Sparrowclaw to help him home.
Peregrinetalon escaped the battle with mostly just scratches, though not as serious as some of the other cats. Mushroomnose and Toadfeather were named to be the new council members, but the absence of the Oracle did not go unnoticed by the she-cat. Cowards, all of them... she thought, as her disapproval of the new council was evident.
Sparrowclaw came back in a rush one day to camp when he pulled her aside. Her best friend then spilled all the details about the past few moons... meeting a she-cat at the Gathering, becoming mates with her, and now... they had kits on the way. Peregrinetalon's stoamch dropped as she heard all of this. As much as she wanted to judge her best friend, she couldn't be a hypocrite after her relationship with Jin. However, she began to advocate the need for them to have them come to RidgeClan, as they were rightfully theirs as much as MistClan.

Pre-Plotting: Peregrinetalon fills the role of Froststone in Sparrowclaw's wanted ad.
She is also the older, lost sibling of Foxglove, Koda, and Scratch.
She also fills the role of a a friend/ally of Firetongue, and his wanted ad.
From the RidgeClan plot adoptables, she aligns with Mars plot view and the Comet plot roles. Peregrinetalon, despite being born outside of the clan, feels as though she owes her life to the clan that took her in when she needed help. The clan way of life, as she now doesn't remember a lot about the tribe, seems to be the best way to live to her.
