appearance
A fragile dilute calico kit with small features.
-
In the future: a dainty dilute calico with long fur and pale green eyes.
-
Asterkit doesn't have the size of a runt but she is just as fragile as one, especially compared to Dappledfern's more rambunctious litter. A gentle wind could knock her over with ease, and too much sun tires her out quickly. In the future, as her adult coat comes in, Asterkit's frailness will be hidden by an impressively bushy coat. For now, her fur is still kitten-soft, and sits at an awkward length between short and medium.
For the most part, Asterkit's fur is a pretty silvery-gray, earning her the prefix aster. She's mottled with a pale, warm ginger and small amounts of white, mostly on her chest, stomach, and paws. She has some faint gray stripes on her face back. Her eyes are a muddied green-blue for now, but will eventually lighten into a pretty pale green.

description
Few are surprised when Burdockfoot announces his mateship with Hollynose, even if their stations seem to suggest an ill-suited match. They both hail from legacy PrairieClan families: Burdockfoot's line traces back to some of PrairieClan's original tunnelers from generations and generations ago, while Hollynose's family makes up a huge portion of the topside warriors, with many of them even dedicating their lives to herbalism. Their personalities clash, too, with Burdockfoot known to be stoic, traditional, and even passive, while Hollynose is a vibrant socialite, far more extroverted than her tunneler mate.
It's because of their differences that their mateship is announced. They're both eligible candidates in historic family lines - it takes little time at all for their parents to decide to arrange them together, once they earned their warrior names. Though the match is presented as one based in love, most PrairieClanners suspect the two are only paired together because their parents say so.
Responsibly, the two wait until several moons into their time as warriors before having a litter. Hollynose is 22 moons old when she gives birth to three daughters: Violetkit, the oldest, Asterkit, the quietest, and Wisteriakit, the runt. At first glance all three girls take more after their mother, but as they age, and more personality shines through, Hollynose can tell her middle daughter, Asterkit, is far more like Burdockfoot than the other two. She loves all her kits equally, she says, and for the most part her actions support that. But Asterkit can feel the difference in how her mother looks at her. Violetkit and Wisteriakit get more of the attention - all of the attention, it feels like. So, from a young age, Asterkit decides she has to do whatever it takes to get the attention back from her sisters.
As a young kit, Asterkit will be quiet and reserved, especially compared to her sisters. She'll be a hard worker, but her shyness and humbleness will often mean her work goes unnoticed or even taken for granted. Instead of learning to take more pride in her work, Asterkit will instead learn that sabotage and tricks are an easier way to get what she wants. After all, if the other kits in the nursery are failing, then it's easier for adults to see her success, right? This trait of hers will last well into her apprenticeship.

relations
Pre-Plotting: Asterkit is Violetkit's sister and will be a friend to the recent Dappledfern litter. As well, her mother, Hollynose, comes from Swanflower's family, and thus harbors negative feelings toward Silversong and his sons, which she is raising her children to mimic.
When she's older, Asterkit will fall into the Heather beliefs.
Family: Asterkit will learn at a young age that family is a source of competition for her. She'll constantly be angling to be seen as better than her sisters, as well as fighting for her parents' attention. It won't be until well into her adulthood that she begins to learn that family can be a source of love and support.
Friends: Being born alongside a different litter means Asterkit will have friends by default. Though she'll be a little shy around them, she'll still be happy to be included in their games. In the future, she may struggle to make friends, as she's accustomed to friends simply happening to her, rather than being something she works to make.
Romance: Other than romantic stories the elders tell, Asterkit doesn't have a solid understanding of romance. She thinks it sounds nice, at least!
Rivals: For now, the only rivalry that Asterkit understands is the rivalry she perceives between herself and her sisters, especially Violetkit.
