Beautiful and remarkable are the words that are often commented behind her back when it comes to her appearance. Built identical to her mother, she is regarded for her beauty and grace both in and out of the battle field. Her form is average and slender, yet firm at the same time. Her footing is always calculated and poised. Never falling or stumbling. Duskfang may not have strong muscle definition like her brother or father, but her lithe and long form allows her to move swiftly.
Her coat is gray, with a strong undertone of lavender when the light hits it just right. The shadows of her pelt bring out this unique colorization. Her markings are like a normal tabby, but they change between both stripes and dots. They are a darker gray color (not completely black) which allows her to blend into the gray mountains of her homeland. Her eyes are a striking, deep orange color, resembling her father's coat more than anything.

description
kithood [0 moons to 6 moons]
If the clan had not known about the expecting Hemlockheart and Sunstorm, they wouldn't have known that kits were born that day. The two gray-tabby kits were quiet, too quiet for some of the queens that were resting peacefully inside the nursery.
The babies were identical, other than the hues of their coats. The tom was light. He had cinnamon markings that sat in harmony with the pale-hues that highlighted his gray. On the other hand, the daughter was darker. Her stripes and dots weren't black, but a musky dark gray. Lavender accents circled her form. It was there that she named them for their looks. Dawn. Dusk.
The hushed whispers of their mother was one thing that always stuck out in the mind of Dusk-kit. Her mother's voice cooed them to keep quiet and to not make a ruckus. As if she was trying to protect them from an evil creature that lurked beyond the entrance to the kits and queens.
And she was right.
It was almost like a cold draft swept through the nursery when the tiny kit saw him. A large orange figure stood before them, blocking the sun to the entrance. No way out.
"This is your father, Sunstorm. He is the strongest warrior in RidgeClan." Hemlockheart tried to calm her children. Dusk-kit, even so young, could sense her mother's fear. She cowered away from her father.
Eventually, she warmed up to the idea of her father, but had more muted ideals than her brother. She wanted to make him proud, but not to the extent of her brother. However, after seeing the other kits in the nursery grow up while playing with leaves and moss, Dusk-kit eventually found disinterest in things. Her ambition to be the best was taking over.
Until she met Pikekit.
Only two days before the birth of Dusk-kit and Dawnkit, there was a litter of three sisters born. They were Fireflykit, Dovekit, and Leafkit. Their parents were two toms, Timberstrike and Fireflight. They had asked a she-cat, Fallingfoot, to be their surrogate.
Dusk-kit and Fireflykit began to have a very close relationship, even with her father's distant disapproval. He wanted his daughter to focus on training... not friends.
One day, after the moon had risen high in the sky, Sunstorm asked Dusk-kit to follow him out of camp. Dawn's and Dusk's father had pulled them from camp to begin training before their ceremony, so this was not a shock to her. Once they were a short distance from camp in a secluded area, the father turned with his claw unsheathed. It was time for his daughter to start taking her life seriously.

apprenticeship [6 moons to 12 moons]
She became Duskpaw, alongside Dawnpaw. The she-cat had been given the mentor of Rainhawk, a proud and regal guardian of the clan, handpicked by Sunstorm. While her brother was to be a warrior like their father, she was chosen to begin guardianship training. While she didn't let the pride of her father choosing her to be a guardian over her brother get in her way, she was glad that she had finally proved herself to Sunstorm. That she could be just as good as everyone else.
However, after a couple days of training, she went on a patrol with Rainhawk, Mothleap, and her apprentice, Littlepaw. However, after a hawk swooped down and almost grabbed Duskpaw, close enough for the talons of the bird to scrap her fur, she was too stunned with fear. Sunstorm ordered that his daughter continue her training as a guardian. However, he was displeased when Hemlockheart went behind his back and asked the leader to make her a warrior instead.
Her new mentor was Wheatblossom. She was a young, orange she-cat with a spitfire attitude. Sunstorm, while not agreeing with her hospitality, knew that he could just supplement training as needed.
"I wish you were like Stoatfang," Duskpaw told Wheatblossom. "Dawnpaw is so many paces ahead of me, and I have to be like him." Wheatblossom calmed down Duskpaw's concerns, but tearfully watched the apprentice return to Sunstorm after their training session.
When Sunstorm trained her, it was a higher intensity than she had ever expected. It was hard for her to go from her mentor's gentle and calm words to the brutal and long sessions with Papa.
Duskpaw and Fireflypaw still were close friends, even with Sunstorm discussing his disapproval for their friendship. He obviously saw something more between the two she-cats, but she didn't. She was just an apprentice. They were joined by another she-cat apprentice named Lilypaw. She was two moons younger than the other two, but the three were inseparable when Duskpaw had free-time. They were all the closest of friends.
Duskpaw tried to visit her mother as much as she could. Hemlockheart became frail and had to move to the elder's den after being a perma-queen after her children's birth. While she had to miss some days due to her training schedule, it always warmed her soul to see her Momma light up at her entrance.
"You know, Sunstorm is so much different than my dads," Fireflypaw mewed, as they were stargazing with Duskpaw just outside camp.
"What are you talking about," Duskpaw laughed, still looking at the stars. "Sunstorm is training me to be the best that I can be, so that our family can be the best that we can ever be. Plus, when we train, we unsheathe our claws. How cool is that!? I bet your mentor doesn't even do that!"
Duskpaw didn't see Fireflypaw's face fall beside her.
Her assignment seemed to come quick, and she was able to pass with flying colors. She knew Papa would be proud.
After the long assessment, with the sun already past the horizon, Duskpaw and Dawnpaw went to see their mother. However, an elder blocked the entrance, causing Duskpaw's stomach to knot. Dawnpaw managed to bust through and she followed, but she wished she hadn't. Oh, she wished she hadn't.
Hemlockheart was dead.
It took a lot of time for Fireflypaw to calm her friend down inside the elder's den, before Sunstorm approached his children. He seemed unmoved by the death of the she-cat that raised his kits.
He pulled his spawn away from the den, before speaking to them...
"We all die. But you will not die weak and useless as she. You will die and kill for your Clan, in the name of StarClan. Or you will die as nothing at all."

warrior [12 moons - present]
She was hardly emotional at her ceremony. But she put on a brave face when her new name was called by her clan, alongside her brother's.
Dawnclaw. Duskfang.
Fireflypaw, Dovepaw, and Leafpaw were also given their warrior names a few days after, after an brief influx of hawks delayed their assessment. They named Fireflylight, Doveblossom, and Leaftail.
Fireflylight and Duskfang snuck out of camp all the time to hunt and spar, with Lilypaw occasionally if she wasn't swooning over her love interest. It was relief to not feel like she was always under the eyes of her father. The clan began rumors about the two becoming mates, but Duskfang always spat at the ideas. They were friends.
Just friends.
Death kept Duskfang awake at night, with Fireflylight and Dawnclaw in their nests beside her. She hadn't given much thought about her life, her death, and her legacy. But it slowly started to consume her. She became a work-a-holic and reclusive, except to her brother, to her friends, and to her father. Duskfang wanted to leave something behind that marked her down in history. She figured she was too sharp-tongued or sensitive to be in the council one day. But she had to do something.
Her name had to be recognizable.
Lilypaw was given her warrior name, Lilyfall, when Duskfang and Fireflylight were 14 moons.
At 18 moons, however, Wolfstar's voice became music to her ears. He planned to revolutionize how the other clan's thought about RidgeClan.
She was ready to die for the mission.
With everyone around her...
Dawnclaw. Sunstorm. Fireflylight. Lilyfall. Wheatblossom. And Hemlock in her heart...
She was ready.
But in a blink, she was in the middle of the battle. Dawnclaw was in the fray, but there was too many cats running around for her to be able to go to his side across the MistClan camp. But she did see one cat, and it horrified her. Lilyfall, battling a huge tom. The tom was obviously seeking blood, as he should have known that the brand-new warrior could not best him. He sliced her throat, as Duskfang called out in horror. Adrenaline took over, as she pushed through the chaos to bite down on the back of the tom's neck. Hard. He fell to his side but was able to retreat. There was no telling if he would survive or not.
Duskfang kneeled down to her friend, her white pelt turning crimson by the second. Lilyfall tried to talk, but the only thing that they would come out was gurgling from her throat. The pain could be seen on the young she-cat's eyes, as her lungs stopped moving. Her eyes stayed the same.
Duskfang was frozen, and angry. She was fighting other cats, but her mind only saw Lilyfall in front of her. It took Fireflylight crashing into her side to snap her out of it and to tell her that a retreat has been called. The two she-cat's rushed out of MistClan camp, being some of the last to exit. All that Duskfang could muster was to cry for her fallen friend.
Moons past, and she hadn't gotten past Lilyfall's death. The she-cat was heartbroken that she never even got to have a vigil. It could have been her. Her brother and father wouldn't have been able to bury her next to Hemlockheart. Would she be forgotten, as it seems the clan had done with Lilyfall?
Dawnclaw talked to her about leaving, and she refused. But still, she didn't expect him to leave. It broke her heart to see him leave, but she knew that Sunstorm needed someone. While he was a brute, a cynical bastard, he needed family as much as anyone else did. Someone he knew that he could depend on. And that had to be her.
And then, Fireflylight left without warning. Doveblossom told Duskfang that she was talking about becoming a loner possibly, but she didn't think Fireflylight would actually do it.
In that moment, she felt alone. No one was left for her, other than Papa. And even then, sometimes she wanted a break. She knew that their ideals weren't shared, and she hated what Ridgeclan had become. But where would she go?
She longed to see her brother, but knew that he had to be regarded as an enemy. Same with Fireflylight. Her heart hurt as she didn't see them, but rejoiced at the same time.
To prevent her from "getting ideas", she had a strict schedule and curfew from her father. But even with that, her mind caused her to wander. And she knew that at some point, she would have to face the cats of her past.
Duskfang tried. She really tried to put the past behind her, put her brother behind her, but she just couldn't. She knew in her heart that this is not where she belonged. An argument with her father in the recent leafbare resulted in her being attacked, and that's when she realized that she would never be seen more than a pawn in Sunstorm's games. When the clan left for the gathering, she ran to the safety of MistClan, and into the safety of her twin's paws again.

Pre-Plotting: Duskfang is an adoption from [the desirables] wanted ad for Dawnclaw.
For RidgeClan plot adoptables, she was two roles. First, her outward appearance and spoken views fell in line with MARS. Duskfang was under her father's influence, and she has always followed him heel-to-toe. It's what the clan expects. It's what she is known for, for being a pro-Wolfstar follower. However, internally, she followed the PLUTO plot. Duskfang hated her clan and hated everything that it has become. She wished for nothing more to run away and forget her past in the clan. However, she knew that she is held on by her father's claw.
For MistClan plot adoptables, Duskfang is likely to take influence from her twin and fall under the BARK and ROOTS understanding. MistClan took her in during a desperate time to flee her home, and she feels as though she owes them so much to be accepted alongside her brother.
