appearance
A she-cat of average physique, amber eyes, and short black fur marked with white due to vitiligo.
Ravenheart did not adopt either of her parents’ builds and is neither muscular nor lithe, but stands right in between with an average physique. There are some characteristics she inherited from her kin, though, such as her small ears, which come from her father, and her dainty paws, which she got from her mother.
Like her father, Ravenheart’s pelt had once been completely black, but became dappled and streaked with white as she aged, creating a beautiful, unique pattern. Her eyes are a dark, rich amber that stands out against her black and white coat.
description
[ 0 MOONS - 5 MOONS ] Ravenkit was born second in a litter of four to Cougarcloud and Wolfstar, who were doting parents. Cougarcloud encouraged her kits to live life to the fullest, to make mistakes and learn from them, but she was always there to offer comfort when their choices backfired. Ravenkit adored her mother, but from the moment she opened her eyes, she was attached to her father. Wolfstar was everything she wanted to be - loyal, ambitious, charismatic. He was her idol and it was obvious how much she admired him. She could almost always be found following him wherever he went. Cougarcloud often had to drag her away just so Wolfstar could get some peace and Ravenkit quickly learned that her father had important duties to tend to, and she had to share him with kin and clanmates. However, she found other ways to try to get him to focus on her. Assertive and determined, she became the loudest of all her littermates.
She adopted Shrewkit as her best friend. He was the shy, quiet son of an overprotective single mother and Ravenkit decided he needed her in his life. They were total opposites and yet, they were the closest of friends. She brought him out of his shell and he had the ability to put her at ease. She liked to take risks and he preferred to play it safe. They balanced each other out, but occasionally, one personality was stronger than the other and it was frequently Ravenkit’s personality that was the more forceful of the two. She would encourage Shrewkit to leave the nursery when his mother told him not to or to push him to explore the medicine cat den with her where they'd unintentionally make a mess. She was always dragging him off on adventures, which he found to be fun, minus the scolding bit that usually came at the end, and in return for entertaining him, he’d keep her safe. He would stop her from trying berries or leaves while they looked through the herb store and he’d prevent her from wandering outside the camp’s walls. They needed each other.
[ 6 MOONS - 10 MOONS ] When they were young apprentices, Ravenpaw had persuaded Shrewpaw to accompany her on one of her exploits. With some coaxing, she managed to convince him that they’d be fine if they crossed the tree bridge into PrairieClan territory, but they didn’t get very far before a rival patrol caught them. She raced back to the tree bridge with Shrewpaw on her tail and while she crossed easily and swiftly, he panicked and slipped, tumbling into the rushing river below. Ravenpaw didn’t hesitate to jump in after him, but she couldn’t keep her own head above the surface, let alone find her friend. She flailed when teeth sunk into her scruff and only stopped when her claws drilled into earth. The PrairieClan patrol had risked their lives to rescue the two apprentices, but only one trainee survived. They escorted her home and told RidgeClan of the event that had transpired, and she prepared to receive her punishment, but Wolfstar thought she’d learned her lesson. Instead of being grateful they’d come to her aid, she blamed PrairieClan for not saving her friend.
Not long after she lost Shrewpaw to the river, white flecks began to show up on her pelt. She knew what had happened when Wolfstar had been her age and his fur started to change color, and Ravenpaw feared her clanmates might push her to follow the path of a medicine cat or oracle. Luckily, Wolfstar understood, having been in her position moons ago, and told her not to worry; he’d make sure she became a warrior. To prove that she was meant to fight and hunt alongside her clanmates, she worked twice as hard as the other apprentices. She practiced battle techniques relentlessly until she’d mastered every move and she went hunting every day until she’d perfected her methods. Ravenpaw even made time to complete her chores, but she never left herself any free time to relax. As she worked all day long, she just hoped Wolfstar would notice and appreciate how driven she was.
[ 11 MOONS - 13 MOONS ] Toward the end of her apprenticeship, Wolfstar led an attack on MistClan. Ravenpaw and her littermates were to participate in the ambush. She was eager to fight and determined to show everyone just how worthy of an opponent she was. She held her own, but RidgeClan was chased off when reinforcements from PrairieClan arrived. Only when the battle patrol returned home and their wounds were being treated did she learn her father lost a life, but she wasn't too concerned; he’s got nine lives, after all. Later that morning, however, leaves her devastated. Wolfstar was dead and Ravenpaw didn’t believe it at first, but when she looked to her family and saw their sorrowful expressions, she realized it was true. Instead of weeping, she got angry and blamed the other clans for her father’s demise.
The same day she lost her father, Ravenpaw began to feel weakness and a tingling sensation in her leg. Even the medicine cat wasn't sure what to diagnose her with, but they did their best to treat her anyway. However, she didn’t improve and even started to suffer from random, brief moments of sharp pain. She was confined to the medicine cat den while they experimented with different ways to help her and she felt so hopeless, she even skipped her naming ceremony to drown in self-pity. She didn’t eat the herbs the medicine cat tried to feed her and she didn’t move an inch when they attempted to get her to move for physical therapy. In an attempt to cheer her up, a small graduation was performed in the medicine cat den. Ravenpaw was granted the name Ravenheart, acknowledging her courage and determination, but it felt wrong to be named by someone who wasn’t her father. Eventually, the medicine cat told her there was nothing they could do for her anymore and she was allowed to move into the warriors’ den instead of the elders’ den.
[ 14 MOONS - PRESENT ] As Ravenheart slowly learned how to live with her injury, she just grew angrier and angrier and was desperate to feel a connection to her deceased parent again. Wolfstar had always been a loyal follower of StarClan and raised his children to be the same, but she’d never been one to believe there was an afterlife and had only pretended to have faith to earn her father’s approval. To feel close to Wolfstar, she began to convince herself that StarClan guided her every paw step, but deep down, she was furious that she didn’t actually believe it. Opinions of her late father soured and a lot of cats began to eye her and her kin with distrust, but Ravenheart stayed strong and continued Wolfstar’s mission, vowing to tear down anyone who got in her way.
